Hi guys,

I am starting a new travel/photography insta page (this time looking for doing a proper geotargeting) and the only thing that I haven't sorted it out yet is if whether I want to target accounts from the US or Australia due to I am actually living in Australia but I'm a bit of nomad and I'll be in the US next year for a few months.

I know this is really important if I wanna monetize my page later on !

What would you go for? Thanks a lot

Hi, not sure my answer will be super related to your question, but here is what i can say:
I run accounts for promoting some stuff/services in CPA and depends on geo locations im getting profit per leads

For every CPA i worked with and almost every offer i faced with. Within other things being equal, leads from Australia cost in 3-5 time more then form USA. So i would pick Australia as a source of targeting.

I'm unsure, but I think that leads from Australia cost more expensive, you can try, man)

US all the way in my opinion.

Write those name in two chits and pick one.

Target australia because you'll face "less" competition than USA to grow your account and thus better sponsorships and payout.

Yes, I forgot, competition, competition... Think, man)

for sure aus cause its payout is high and competition is less us people now know whats fake offer and whats true

Thanks for all your replies ! I was gonna go for the US but I’ll definitely consider target Australia now

I’m Australian but I travel regularly to the USA and most of my following is from there. For myself personally, I’ve found it hasn’t really mattered much where my following is mainly based.

I find with my niche I don’t have a huge amount of competition, especially in Australia, so it makes it easy to network and get offers. Makes to so much easier getting paid too since I’m registered as a freelancer/sole trader. In the states you would probably need a visa to be able to be paid, so I mostly take free product and trips, it’s an extension of my lifestyle anyways, so saves me a few thousand dollars in travel costs. Plus if you were to ever get pulled up in customs and they looked into it, you could be denied entry to the country if they think you’re taking on any paid work (I know people who have been questioned for lesser things and interviewed for hours before being granted entry). I think there is a ‘creativity’ visa that could cover this but it costs a good chunk to apply for.

Not sure if that helps at all, I think over all it doesn’t really matter, but to make money, you’ll have to do that part in Australia.

You should target both for a start, but if you are wanting to earn free stuff for influencer marketing your best bet is to target AUS.

If you are wanting to make money, USA and bigger countries are better.

some times australia its a little more expensive than US..

How are you planing to monetise? and it doesn't really matter the targeting as Instagram cuts the reach so you'll only be getting seen by a small percentage of your following so you're better off taking photos of content that can go viral and using that traffic to monetise. Doing this you'll get more traffic and more followers which provides social proof which means more money on getting shout outs and shoots.
