I'm trying to work out the average amount of data a botted account uses when running on these kind of settings:

300 follows
1 post every few days
DMs to new followers

Do you think it could be kept below 200mb per month?

are you using a bot to do this or are you doing it manual on a phone?

I was using gramdominator on my first time botting. With about 500 actions a day, I spent around 500mb a day for one account. I dont know about other bots. It might be different. I never count my usage now with my vps

No GMT2 or other bot

That's absolutely insane... are you sure it was 500mb and not 500kb?! Half a gig per day just to do some following... that doesn't really make any sense since most images on IG are only a few kb...

Maybe there was a lot of scraping included, it seems too much nevertheless in my opinion too, 500 KB would be too few though. The follow action in itself shouldn't "cost" too much data, but the scraping - depending on the method used - can. Just imagine after some time when you're already followed lots of people and you scrape for the same keyword again and again. Going forward in time, there are less and less people who you can follow, which means that the bot needs to check more and more pages to supply you with people, who aren't or weren't already followed by you.

Why not just test the data usage yourself? 200 MB per month isn't much though, it's less than 7 MB per day.

Yes, that's true. However I guess it comes down to the scraping method. If you're always adding new sources or you have a pool of millions of targeted accounts to follow then it shouldn't be too intensive.

I'm running GMT2 with over 50 accs for a good while now - any ideas how I'd check the data usage on a per account basis? Hell even, for all accounts is fine since I can just divide the total data usage by the accounts I'm running to get an average.

If it's not built-in, i guess you would need a 3rd party tool, which can monitor the data usage per application, something like these: https://www.hongkiat.com/blog/monitor-internet-usage/.

It was very old version of gramdominator. Im thinking the same as @HoNeYBiRD. It involving scraping process which is need more data to spend. But Im pretty sure that was 500mb a day. Thats why I moved on vps.

Try socinator it's very light on data bundles

Thanks for the insights. Anyone got any hard numbers on data usage?

According to my tests:

- 1 account
- 750 follow + 750 likes +750 unfollows + posting 1 pic daily
- Scraping tools

Data usage around 1,8 -2 Gb per month

I run about 200 accounts using Jarvee - following, unfollowing and scraping. Doing some quick math I believe each account uses approx 0.175gb :)

EDIT: per day
