Channel authority is SO important

Hey guys,

Just in case you didn't know - I have seen a HUGE impact on channel authority in my niche. YouTube never ranked or recommended my videos when I had below 10k subscribers. Now, I am appearing on all kinds of channels in the recommended channels section and my videos are ranking higher as a whole.

I think one ranking factor is channels with less than 10k channel views. To get this up, comment on a bunch of videos within your niche (personally, I say really crazy and weird things to get people to click). You can't actually see your channel view count but I noticed a huge impact once I got it above 10k and 10k subscribers.

Have you noticed this as well?

nope

a yt channel is just a exstention of the main channel .

you pay to activate sub channels with yt .

i have not seen any diffrence from main channel to sub channels sorry .

this includes views, and indexing, with or without 10k views or subs.

there no privaliges have the sub channels activated except space to upload other video with diffrent channel names under 1 account.

yt done this so people did not use multipule accounts, and get revenue from sub accounts.

Unfortunately I don't think that's true.

Channel authority is likely a variable involved in the ranking process but channel authority factors don't seem to have a huge impact - ranking is still very much to do with factors relating to an individual video independent of the channel.

I'd like to point out that there wouldn't be a specific arbitrary number for channel views or subscribers that is important. As in, there isn't a 10K view, 1M view, 10K sub, 1K sub, etc. channel threshold to cross before your videos start ranking better. The higher the numbers the better but the impact isn't big enough for it to be worth focusing on.

It's worth noting that variables relating to what most group under 'channel authority' are most likely factors considered by YouTube's ranking and recommendation algorithms but they are not large factors in the slightest.

There are reasons independent of channel authority for your increasingly better video rankings as your channel has grown, the biggest of which would be the fact that you have more subscribers who are notified/recommended your new videos, then those viewers like, dislike, comment, share, watch your other recommended videos, etc. and those actions are what predominately contribute to better rankings.

Yeah, I definitely think you're right there. So one thing about sub count that does help is I started showing up in the "related channels" on very large YouTube channels in my niche. I looked at the big channels in my niche and the lowest subscriber count in their related channels was 14k. Once I passed that threshold, then I began to show up there as well.

That's awesome to hear! Yeah I'd say you're correct on that front. When I get the time I'm going to do some research into what it takes to show up in the related channels section as that's an area I haven't done much looking in to nor has there been much discussion of it

There are more important variables. Watchtime is king currently.

I dont think subscriber count matters.

You probably had a video getting good retention(watch time) and people staying on YouTube.

This is what videos get suggested.

But maybe your subscriber count did help

Watch time & keeping people on YouTube is the most important ranking factor as of now

That's awesome to hear! Yeah I'd say you're correct on that front. When I get the time I'm going to do some research into what it takes to show up in the related channels section as that's an area I haven't done much looking in to nor has there been much discussion of it

At 2K subs I had many featured channels that had 500,000 - 2 million subs. SO I don't think that your sub number has much to do with it.

Where it comes from I think is how many of the subs from that channel have been watching your content.........Or channels you have more than X suggested videos on
