I am relatively new to SEO and it took me some time to understand how things work around here. There are so many types of people - people that make tons of money and people that make no money. There are so many types of SEO strategies - from low quality Public PBN up to 100$-1000$ auctioned domains and 100$-1000$ guest posting. This is a vast field with people on all different levels. From what I understood so far, there appears to be these 4 levels:

1) Low level (no SEO required) - The crowd that got here thanks to "make money fast online while working from home and doing nothing" gurus and their courses. These are people that are not that interested in learning SEO and are in search of an easy "technique". They might do porn spam, they might buy 50$ websites, buy some 50$ SEO service on them and end up not knowing why they are not making any money. Some of these people might end up making big money through some "technique" if they are somehow smart and put some effort, but most do not.

2) Medium level (low level SEO quality, public PBN, etc.) - People that do 1 page affiliate websites with 1000 words of content and bombard it with commercials. They might buy some Public PBN SEO service. Risk is not a problem cause they did not invest too much time or effort into the website and can easily create another one.

Some of these people are newbs that are doing this cause they can not create an authority website that provides value. But other people doing this have become good at it and understood that you need to scale. So they can make a lot of money.

3) Medium level (medium level SEO quality required) - People that have a real, legit and long term websites. They need their SEO to be a little more whitehat because they have invested quality work in them and don't want to re-build them. These kind of people use mainly guest posting and web 2.0. The quality and price of their links can vary a lot. For example a guest post price can vary between 10$ and 100$, depending on weather it's on a website created mainly for links or if it's on a more quality website. Besides buying quality guest post, they might also try to do manual blogger outreach.

From what I understand a Public PBN is too risky and too low quality for such websites. A private PBN is too expensive for such websites. So what they are left with is buying guest post and building web 2.0s, the quality of which depends on their needs and budget.

4) High level (top SEO quality required) - Big shots fighting in highly competitive areas. There are areas out there where millions are made. In highly competitive areas, they need Private PBN built on 100$-1000$ auctioned domains, they might need 100$-500$ guest posting, etc. For them, it is worth it building a private PBN even though costs might get up to 50.000$ cause they are making way more money and for them, it's worth every penny.

---People outside the ladder---

1) SEO Companies - they are outside the ladder. They generally rank local projects for much more than it costs. Such projects are easy to medium difficulty and these companies take a lot more money than they should for such projects. But, even though they are highly inefficient, what they do is in a way fare. Web design and local SEO will always be a local thing. Normal small business owners want to simply go to their local web design/seo agency, meet somebody in person and have that somebody take care of everything from that point on.

2) People providing low level SEO services: I do not understand too well what is up with them. There are so many people providing content writing for 5$, PBN links for 5$, etc. I know these people also scale what they do, so they might be making some decent money. I still do not understand too well what is up with them and why they are doing it.
-----------

This is what I understood so far about the BHW social ladder. Is this understanding of mine accurate ? What do older members have to say about this ? Can others provide a similar description such mine, but more accurate ? What is your opinion on this subject ?

For me the BHW Social Ladder is who tells the best jokes and can troll with panache.
Try not to judge people on first appearances.

A lot of people that promote themselves as SEO'ers/Ballers, on closer study know and earn very little and have blagged and bullshitted.

Try to get to know people and follow people who you think may provide value to you.
This is a massive forum with people of all levels of experience, it would be hard to pigeonhole some of them.

The "SEO skill ladder" would have been a better wording on my part. What I am trying to get is a general overview of how the SEO world works. As a newby, it is confusing how many types of links and many types of websites there are out there. It takes this kind of knowledge to understand why buying PBN links might not be suitable for all websites, why some links might be too expensive for a particular project, etc. This kind of bird view of the SEO world is what would help many like me in their SEO efforts.

If you are really brand new to SEO then forget about links at this stage, study white-hat SEO that complies with Google guidelines, make sure your on-page SEO is perfected.
It should take you a couple of months to get to grips with that, by which time you will have a better understanding of SEO and then start to build links and delve into off-page SEO.

This post is interesting, but it's more of a bucket than a ladder. The crypto geniuses are outside the bucket, looking down and laughing boisterously at all of the crabs scuttling over each other trying to make a quick buck with "Internet Marketing" (non-crypto members).
