Instagram was down in the morning (CET), and it now seems that there is a significant change happening with the engagement. It is too early to make any conclusions, but it is worth to notice! I just posted a photo reaching 2000 likes after 10 minutes. I usually get 1000 after 10 minutes on viral posts, so an increase of 100%! Let's see if it continues.

I also observed that the Italian blogger, @chiaraferragni, got 89.000 likes in 9 minutes, whereas a post (of her posing) she posted the day before reached around 300.000.

Have you noticed anything? There has been rumours about that Instagram would introduce more of the old chronological feed to increase the importance of 'new content'.

this is interesting i'll keep an eye out for other famous people and how their posts perform

Yeah... same here.
The engagement within first few minutes is f**king awesome, then slow again.
The last days before todays problem, the engagemet was terrible.

I have noticed a change and it's evident that it's leaning more towards giving more engagement. However, lets not jump the gun just yet. Still have to observe it for several weeks.

Can I ask where you heard about "rumours that Instagram would introduce more of the old chronological feed to increase the importance of 'new content'". That's something worth validating and following up on.

Wow this is so fucking annoying. I thought It was just me doing something right!

I got 3x more likes in the first few minutes than on my first few minutes on my post from last night. Seeing your comments confirms it for me. The algo has indeed changed. I will never stop checking this site then...

Unfortunately things do slow down very quick...

I thought it was weird that it was not showing the correct insights to match the likes coming in...I had never seen a delay like that in my year of experience on IG.

"Instagram is not at this time considering an option to see the old reverse chronological feed because it doesn’t want to add more complexity (users might forget what feed they’re set to), but it is listening to users who dislike the algorithm."
- Instagram told Techcrunch (June 2018)

This statement was the first 'myth' Instagram answered, when Instagram officially and somewhat openly commented on their algorithm. Even though the statement is attempting to shoot down a myth, it is very loosely framed indicating that Instagram is open to find a solution in order to respond to the growing demand for a 'return' to the chronological feed. Obviously, the old feed is not going to be the solution, but a hybrid model may be something they can (or are already) working on.

Oh ok, I know about the Techcrunch article. Actually I made a post about it here on BHW some time ago.

They're extremely elusive in regards to how the algo works, but I have noticed that more of a hybrid chronological-engagement based feed has been evident over the past several months.

I notice some changes too, my engagement dropped a lot unfortunately, since yesterday, or at least 2 days ago
Aaaaand now, my account got banned lmao

Were you doing any sort of botting, buying followers, aggressive use of engagement/like groups?
What niche were you in?

my engagement literally got cut in half, I had 3 1500 photos in a row then dropped to 700-800 in the last 3 days.

Some of my accounts got a fng pvs. Engagement also gone down a bit.

@aduseia

Yeah I was doing botting with Jarvee, not aggressive settings tough
Was participating in some engagement groups sometimes, not always...and not crazy too, just some Dx30/Dx5/Dx10 to get a little boost
The niche was fashion/luxury

Not a big account It was 2 months old only, but was the main traffic for my dropshipping store, I tried to contact instagram through the recovery account email, but I'm 99% sure that I will not get it back, so I'm planning to create a new one and only do manual with engage groups (but will wait for more replies about it, since you mentioned, may the engage groups affected it too)

@gentleman1

well on Telegram, there are some folks that claim to be able to get deactivated accounts back. Don't quote me on that though.

Yes i have noticed i'm reaching a lot more of my followers than i was before the algorithm changed.
