Why can't I register this domain?

I found a good domain but when I try to register it. The registrar says it's already taken.

Ok. so how do I know when it's gonna expired?

Seems whois database where you are querying is not updated.

Try to check from other whois source. Best is to try from command line if you can.

Yeah, try another and the expire date is Jan 2019..... but man this guy just register the domain and do nothing.
I checked in wayback machine and this 2 years he didn't do a thing about this domain.
Maybe auto renew and completely forgot about it.

This has happened to me several times, I think you are right.

Try to contact Godaddy about it, and they will gives you more infos about what happen to the domain name, also there will be a high chance the domain will be in prerelease auction, in redemption period.
