Cool interview... had fun reading it!
Have you ever done Youtube
@Leith?
I've done a bit of YouTube in the past, that's about it.
How the f... is it possible to build a fresh domain, one-page site with 2500 words of content and have it ranked making $10K/month in freaking 45 days man... This thread makes me feel so stupid and like just quitting IM lol.
To be precise, the domain was registered on
30th July. The site went live on 15th Aug.
Approx 1500 words on the EN version of the site and I've got a FR version which has around 1000 words. Here's an
updated look at traffic. The Ahref's traffic estimation is wrong though, real traffic is 2.5x more. The 81 links are mostly branded links to set a bit of foundation, mostly from repeated referring domains. Nothing too special. The PBN links aren't picked up by Ahrefs but they did most of the work. Not quite on $10k/m yet though.. maybe in a month or two.
My method involves looking for niche opportunities that have a weak Page 1. This is how I find suitable niches to go after and most the sites end up ranking very well. The issue I've seen (and mentioned in my original post) is the competition. More and more people and setting up their affiliate sites/money-making properties. SEO will continue to get competitive and there will come a point where you may struggle to keep up with link building from competitors. Picking the right niche can prove vital at the beginning. It's the difference between a site that will end up ranking and a site that never quite reaches the top. Choosing the wrong niche could end up wasting a lot of your time + money because you'll be chasing after rankings you'll never achieve.
The second is: planning. A lot of guys do a bit of keyword research, spot a few juicy keywords and then they set up a site and link building begins. No proper planning is done and usually after a few months they realize they don't have the resources or funds to continue the link building on the site. A well made plan could have avoided this problem. Plan out your keywords, your link building strategy, estimated expenses (for 6 months, 12 months, etc), forecasts, earnings/revenue potential on the site, hours you're putting in, etc etc etc. Once done, the plan should make sense and if everything looks good to go, then you begin.
Always research your niche thoroughly before you enter.
Here's a look at the previous #1 ranking site in this niche. Notice how I'm taking their traffic. When I looked into this niche, it was obvious that it was weak. #1, #2 and #3 were sites that had poor quality links, #4 and #5 were YouTube videos, #6 and #7 were forum posts and #8 was another site with some poor quality links. Now there was a chance some of these sites could have had additional PBN links that I didn't know about, so I always try digging deep to uncover any potential PBN's used. There are several things you can do to try dig down PBN's.. it can be quite time consuming, but once you find one or two domains, you can uncover more
I'll try and make a separate thread going over the method of spotting some untapped niches.
That was all it took. A well researched and untapped niche, very high quality content (better than all the other sites on Page 1), a nice looking site (custom design/landing page) and finally some strong PBN links. Every step of your SEO strategy is important and this is where most people can tend to go wrong. I even end up having to scrap some sites/projects because I screwed up the initial plan.
Decent read
@Leith, many thanks
Thanks man, would love to hear your story if there's one
One of best interview I read so far, thank you very much your useful information about your success story.
I have couple of questions regarding PBN, all these domain purchaspurchased from auction? What the minimum bid?
2. All these domain(1st example) history relevant to money site?
3. What sort of things gives you motivation when you are in comfort zone.
4. How many years of experience for now SEO.
Thanks again for gives good insight about SEO
1. Mixture of auction/expired. Bid varies.. I don't mind paying premium for a domain if it's strong and I'm able to beat other bidders.
2. Yes, relevant to the broader niche.
3. I'm guilty of this sometimes but my long term goals and objectives keep me pretty motivated.
4. I found out about SEO in 2009.. probably wasn't till a year later that I had solid success with it.
