Is EMD still giving website additional power? Make it easier to rank?

Yes , Just don't be agressive with it
Okay, how do you backlink for EMD site? I mean, branded anchor text is important, but then again, the brand is the keyword. So what's the different on choosing anchor text for EMD site to avoid over optimization?

I find EMDs to be far different from what it used to be 10 years back - 10 years back, it will rank highly on the search engine, due to the exact match authority that it carries.
But building an EMD nowaday is just like building something out of a fresh site. Although the spam treshold may be a little better, the building is still the same.
But if it is a country level EMD- then that changes everything -- these are still superpowerful for niche geo-targeted sites.

Yes it works but if you didn't have match domain so it doesn't mean you cannot rank higher with other SEO tactics you can have the rank. But make sure domain must be the phrase of your niche.

Yes indeed.

The problem with it is that people mess up their anchors. That's why it might seem like it "doesn't work".

It's basically the same way , That was why I said earlier you shouldn't be aggressive with it...

You want to pick seed keywords with preferred word.. Let take Workoutman.com as example! The Two KWs are generic "WorkOut" & "Man" .

You can have your anchors in variants

Like Workoutman , WORKOUTman , WORKoutMAN , Work Out Man workOUTMAN and lot more ... Means the same thing but Comes in different anchors...

I've seen a few sites ranking with EMDs recently, especially with Local SEO.

You need far more than just an EMD to rank though, and should have proper On-Page SEO in addition to quality and niche-relevant backlinks.

Yes, it still works but you have to be careful about your anchor text percentage.

50-50, but don't be aggressive.

No one can predict when its play rules.

What's your anchor text backlink profile for EMD site?
Personally I try and stay below 10% exact anchor, straight URL links seem to work well. Probably could risk higher but haven't been penalized for years now.

it can work but other pillars that bring up the ranks are important too on page, off page, content, social media etc. people would want to remember with more creativity and uniqueness rather than being predictable.

yes that is still working, don't know why but i think google is still giving emd domain more importance then other type of domains.
