He has been arrested cause he started sending negative reviews to competitor’s restaurants. He has been selling positive reviews for years and everything was fine. That’s what happens when you become too greedy.

I have no problem when people want to use fake reviews to boost their own businesses/properties etc but when they leave damaging fake reviews on competitors sites then they deserve to be f#cked with.

Sad news for a bad behavior. Good lesson for others to learn. Negative review to competitors is not the right thing to do.

Fake bad reviews can be really devastating for business. It is not surprising that someone is trying to chase someone for it. On the other hand, fake positive reviews should not be treated as a crime.

Brilliant! If you are destroying other people's livelihood unfairly, then you deserve to be punished. Just imagine opening up a restaurant by borrowing a loan (which the bank is going to charge a high interest rate on), trying to build your reputation slowly by hard work and painful experiences, only to see it affected/destroyed by some fake reviewers.

Curious but how do you trace these fake reviewers? Is there a way to identify who these fake reviewers are? It's a whole different story esp. when it's a fake negative review.
They should require all reviewers to post their real names or some kind of identifying element to prevent this problem.

Yes first time one case for TripAdvisor with publicity.
It was someone sent to jail too for doing fake review (bad review for the competitor) in hosting industry. The person been punished for 3 months and must pay $15k for the resulting losses the competitor. Because it don't have many attention and publicity then it just a silent story.
