Hello

I am starting a blog that i hope will hopefully have 50-100 blog posts by the end of the year and hopefully i will post 2-3 blog posts a week ongoing afterwards.

I am wondering if its best to leave the date on the blog posts, or have the date removed so that readers do not see what date the blog post was made?

Any suggestions as to why or why not to do this would be greatly appreciated.

thx

I dont like using dates on my sites because i personally dont like reading old articles because i feel they are outdated.

I would recommend to leave these dates, as Google loves to see new content and the date will be important for indexing your articles.

It depends.

Are your blog posts evergreen content that will be applicable for years to come? I'd leave the date off as it's not really necessary.

Does Google prefer older content in your niche compared to newer content? I'd leave the date for people, but backdate it to make it look older.

Does Google prefer newer content? I'd leave the date on & update the article/publishing date every month or so to keep it "new."

You should actually have Last Modified Date as Google does look for that. You want to make sure you update your main pages on a regular basis and reindex them

Leave the dates and update some content regularly in your blog posts. Google loves updated and authoritative content.

It really depends. As you can see from the replies above...
I personally leave the date, I like it that way. And I plan to add new articles so the site/blog isn't looking outdated/abandoned.
I'd do it, you choose what's best for your niche/visitors. :)

I don't think it makes a huge difference either way really.

I prefer not to have a date unless I'm writing about a news story or a current event.

I, personally hate reading blog posts that have no date....
First thing is to look for the date then reading the content. If no date found or outdated I skip reading...easy as that

I personally leave the dates on the blog posts but make sure to go back to the posts every 6 months and update them. Because Google loves fresh content and I want my readers to get the updated news.
