PBN Q&A v2.0: Ask me anything about our improved PBN game in 2018

When Did You First Hear About PBNs?

1. Taking domain from other niche geos till it's not really opposite (ex: medical for financials) : for example taking an ex italian tourism website for a french financial PBN at condition to try to mix niches : is it a decent approach ?

2. About testing : if my pbn ranks in new niche but really a bit, (like 2 - 3 easy kw in new niche and only at 7 - 8 pages) - still need to test it ?

3. About hosting, even if I use 1 ip per site, 80% of MY pbn is divided between VPS providers as OVH, Vultr : footprint ?

4. I actually target some complicated kw and am stuck in 8 - 10 position with a slow move on top but really slow. The point is all mu concurrent are banks, analytics sites which have only few RDs to those pages but from really powerful sites. Many PBN links may not be a signal for google ?

5. Instead of building link from HP, is it working to set old pages URL (if Url have like 15+ GOOD RD) and bulld article to MS there ?

6. And last thing about domain. For you a domain with RD 50+ DR 20+ and DA 25+ (off course if clean with contextual backlinks etc) is good or just medium ?

@websitedesign

1. I wouldn't recommend mixing niches, especially for long term projects. Do it legitimately and use financial domains for financial niches and travel domains for travel niches, whenever possible. However, as we all know, good domains are scarce. But the good news is there are ways to make domains that aren't 100% relevant useful for your backlinking goals.

There are some conditions though:

- I would use these only if the domain is super strong and I don't want to miss the link juice.
- I would always try to seek angles that make reference both to the old niche and my target website.

So I would take your 'Italian tourism website' and write an article covering 'How the State of the Economy And New Financial Reforms in 2018 Affected Tourism in Italy' and then invite people to read the French translation of the article (actually provide a decent translation to French) and link to a study or infographic hosted on your French financial website.

If there is a will, there's always a way.

Don't abuse this method. Use it when dealing with super strong domains that would be a pity to throw away just for being non-relevant. Otherwise, strive to use domains that are as closely related to your niche as possible. This is what Google likes and wants.

2. I have covered my views on PBN testing in this post about SEO randomness here https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/b...y-more-links-domains-or-just-move-to.1045591/

3. It's not a big footprint if you're just starting out, but it will become one once you have 10x more domains than you have now. I would start to diversify by using more hosting providers or IPs from different data centers, just like the ones offered by Diplomat's service here on BHW.

4. Even though Neil Patel is full of sh*t most of the times, I highly recommend you read his recent article where he covers exactly what you need to know about outranking competitors that have fewer backlinks than you, yet rank higher https://neilpatel.com/blog/we-analyzed-203900-data-points-to-answer-the-question-do-keywords-matter/

Hint: topical relevancy

5. Yes, it definitely helps. We always try to recreate up to 5 most backlinked pages of any PBN and use those for links.

6. For us personally it's a weak domain. But once again, it really depends on your niche, market, business, funds, position, etc.

RD 50+ - weak
RD 150-300 - medium
RD 500+ - strong

This would be a basic way to look at domains from my perspective, taking into consideration all links are contextual, natural etc. But once again, things are quite relative as you can find a domain with just 35 REFD that is super relevant and may help move the needle better than your 300+ RD partially relevant one.

It really depends on what works for your niche.

The best thing you can do is just get the best domains you can, link out and monitor the results.

Then rinse and repeat.

Can i host PBNs on unique Cloudflare accounts?
Also if i delete MX records Google will not find the real ip , what do you think?

@Desert90

You definitely can, but I wouldn't over-do it.

I suggest mixing in other hosting providers if possible.

Hello Alex, I just have one question for now.
- Whether the same NS will have an effect on PBN? Because I already look some article, there's say you can have same NS maximum 5 PBN with the same NS. But, my friend say that you must not have same NS for PBN which make me thinking about "What about people who have 600 PBN?" or it just need different IP?
Thanks before for make a place like this so a noob like me can ask, and sorry for my bad English. Regards,

@Julian Putra

Well, there are two angles here.

If you host with major hosting providers like HostGator, GoDaddy, NameCheap, NetworkSolutions, etc having the same DNS for more than 1 domain is really not a problem. These guys host millions of domains so it's really not a footpring taking into consideration the volume of sites with the same NS.

On the other hand, if you use unique IP rental services like the one offered by Diplomat here on BHW, I would suggest you use every single purchased IP to register your own custom private Name Servers and stay on the safe side. You can also point the A records to the registrar's DNS in some cases and just use their Name Servers, since, once again, some registrars host a ton of sites and it won't raise any suspicion. It's like hiding in the crowd.

Hi Alex, could you please advise what is the best way to find auction domains with good backlink profiles, I tried the godaddy auction, but it only shows the domain names and price info, I have to manually check backlink of those domains one by one, it's really time consuming, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

@sashilover

If you still haven't figured out a way by now, your business model probably doesn't require you to spend time building a system or team to go through auction domains and most likely it would be more convenient to buy them directly from a PBN domains provider.

Hmm make sense, another knowledge for me. Thanks Alex.
Uhh how about Vultr? I have a little problem with the hoster who have a strict regulation about the payment. I'm working for gambling site right now, so for the payment, well, some hoster always reject your payment if your register data different with your payment data.
Or do you have any recommendation cheap hosting for pbn? (which dont have a strict regulation of course. Hehe) Regards

Do you usually link to your money site's homepage, internal page, or both from your PBN?

What would you say to your pbn's trust flow dropping considerably? We fear there was some bad linking done that has now killed our PBN. Would the drop of TF on our sites be an indication of this?

@Julian Putra

I would strong recommend you check Diplomat's hosting service here on BHW for all your PBN hosting needs. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but we have been using his service for several years now and I can vouch for it as being top notch. We regained our sanity after moving from multiple shared hosting companies to his service lol

Do you usually link to your money site's homepage, internal page, or both from your PBN?

@JamaicanMoose

We try to diversify as much as possible by pointing the highest quality PBN links to the homepage, category pages and individual money pages. If you are not 100% convinced the links you're buying are legit, better send them to the supporting pages.

What would you say to your pbn's trust flow dropping considerably? We fear there was some bad linking done that has now killed our PBN. Would the drop of TF on our sites be an indication of this?

@YepCabbage

Majestic's TF, unfortunately, is not a reliable indication of anything, and has never been. As much as it hurts to say, but even Moz's DA or Ahref's DR is much better when it comes to assessing the approximate authority of a domain, considering it has never been abused and the backlinks are sparkling clean and natural.

At the end of the day, it's how Google treats your PBN domain that matters, not metrics provided by 3rd party companies that have nothing to do with Google.

Alex

Hi Alex,

Is it okay to host your domains for the PBN with different CDN like AWS?

I haven't tried doing PBN yet but I was told that each domain should should be hosted on a different provider to avoid footprints.

what are the facts we should look at when we are buying PBN links for our money site? Is it a must to check the backlink profile of the PBN blog? If they have used some adult or chinese links for their PBN, can it cause harm for our site?

VULTR is bad for gambling niche, you will get kicked out from there.
Tetap harus campur2 kalo mau main PBN bro

Thanks again Alex for your recommendation. I've already go there, looks promising. Gonna use it later. Still waiting my domain from auction ready for use. Hehe.

Uh I have some "trick" for disguise the "Gambling's PBN" and it's still work till now.
Hehe.

Alex, thanks for a great as always Q&A session!
I'm still puzzled with your attitude to measuring domains:

you rate domains this way:
  • RD 50+ - weak
  • RD 150-300 - medium
  • RD 500+ - strong
...while you say that nothing is more important that link quantity and quality.

So, to make this estimate more justified, we still need to check PA/AR of those linking pages.

Or you simply assume that as long as both links are natural, a homepage link from MIT will be equal to an old listing of local organizations with DA 10?

Hi Alex,
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us all. I have a couple of questions I wanted to ask if I may.

1) How many pbn links would you direct to your money site at the one time - let's say you have 10 new fully built out strong pbns how would you link into your money site? Would you drop a couple links then maybe a couple the following week?

2) I have a lot of sites, lot registrars, a lot of hosting and sometimes find it hard to keep up - do you have a specific way you keep on top of things if running hundreds of sites across many platforms?

3) Can you recommend any good content writers?

Thanks

@nobrainsnoragrets

You can definitely host with AWS, but we don't.

We have decided to work with a provider that won't just host our PBNs, but offer the much sought after peace of mind - something extremely necessary when you have a constantly growing network.

what are the facts we should look at when we are buying PBN links for our money site? Is it a must to check the backlink profile of the PBN blog? If they have used some adult or chinese links for their PBN, can it cause harm for our site?

@cham rox

1. The quality of the referring domains
2. The number of the referring domains

These two combined should theoretically result in high metrics, at least in 95%+ of the cases, but there are exceptions. I won't get into domain age, making sure the domain is legit, clean, etc. This is all self explanatory. I'm focusing on making sure the domain has enough niche relevant, quality referring domains to move the needle.

There are legit domains powered by adult links, like the ex-domain of local private gay community that used to gather and defend the LGBT rights of their peers, etc. You could definitely use such a domain to link to your adult money site.

There are some legit domains powered by Chinese links too, like the domain of an ex Chinese/Taiwanese/Hong Kong newspaper, powered by 100% natural, legit, clean, organic referring domains and therefore anchors.

Nevertheless, non-english domains and domains related to industries that are usually perceived as very spammy need to be spam-checked attentively as newbies usually can't make the difference between a legit link profile and a 'spammed to death' one.

Most PBN link sellers don't send reports. Those who do risk having their networks slapped and therefore de-indexed. So it gets tricky. Ideally you want to buy links from a provider that doesn't offer reports since their decision to keep things private protects your own money site and interests long term.

I'm constantly being offered various discounts to buy links from BHW providers and man I really can't understand how people get to buy on those super spammy domains lol

So ideally you just want to deal with a provide that you trust.

Is PBN still working in 2018?[

@nadir rana

No.

SEO also died meanwhile.

@SicarioPBN

We don't assume anything mate.

We can't know for sure which domain will move the needle.

We just get quality niche relevant domains or domains that we can somehow connect to the vertical of our money site and link away.

When I say RD 50+ weak, it doesn't mean that we don't use them. We do, it's just a way of comparing their strength taking into consideration that we are dealing with domains powered by quality, authority referring domains and 100% legit backlink profiles.

Quality of the backlinks/referring domains.
Quantity of the backlinks/referring domains.

That's all that matters.

When you've got quality, quantity is a nice bonus.

Combination of both is a killer one.

@tammyblogger

1) It really depends on the money site, it's age, trust, current rankings, traffic, etc. If dealing with a fragile, new site I would do 1 PBN link every 3/4 days or so and just monitor the results, then link again.

It can take up to 7-10 weeks for a PBN link to fully kick in, so do it slowly.

2) Diplomat's hosting service to ease the pain of hosting (trust me we've been there and promised ourselves no more shared hosting, no more hundreds of accounts lol) + Excel spreadsheets + a great VA to help manage everything.

You can definitely move your sites to Diplomat's hosting.

You can definitely create and better organize data in spreadsheets.

What you probably can't find that easy is a super reliable VA that will stick with you for years, be loyal and care for your business as much as you do.

We managed to find one, but that's pure luck I guess.

Hello Alex, here I'm again. I want to ask you about the priorityprospect, can you explain to me how I get my nameserver? Because it's a little different from some hosting like Godaddy, vultr or spark which I always use and I'm a little confuse right now. Regards

Hey!

We don't provide traditional pre-created nameservers like everyone else does because we consider them to be a huge footprint. With our hosting service you need to use registrar nameservers, private nameservers or any DNS you can imagine.

If you wish to use registrar nameservers then here are some tutorials from most popular registrars:

https://www.namecheap.com/support/k...an-i-set-up-an-a-address-record-for-my-domain
https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-an-a-record-19238

The process is the same for every registrar that provides their own nameservers. All you need to do is create an A record which points to the IP we provide. Don't forget to add a CNAME record for "www".

If you wish to use private nameservers then follow these tutorials:

https://www.namecheap.com/support/k...i-register-personal-nameservers-for-my-domain
https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-my-own-host-names-as-nameservers-12320

The process is exactly same for every registrar. You register your nameservers using the IP we provide. Once that's done you assign your new nameservers to your domain. You edit your DNS zone from our dashboard by clicking Actions > Edit DNS Zone.

For DNS services we usually suggest using: Route53, Cloudns, Dyn, but there are tons of them out there that you can use.

We always suggest our clients to use mix of nameservers for maximum diversity.

Most registrars have excellent knowledge bases which you can use to find answers. If you have never set up anything like this, you can always contact your registrar and ask for more help.

If you have more questions, feel free to contact our support.

No problem. Those articles I linked are the best sources for information like that. Namecheap has especially good guides with pictures. What's great is that those processes are exactly the same for every registrar.. it's just their dashboards are a bit different. Once you have set up an A record or created private nameservers you will see how easy it is and you can perform those actions with any registrar :)

Hello sir, uhh I did what Godaddy's article was told for make and add own hostname (Because my domain is at Godaddy). But there's some question that I confuse now.
- When I add host name, there was "Host" and "IP Address". Then, which "IP Address" that I must use? every NS uses a different IP?

*still try and understand more deeply for the article.

Every nameserver does not need a different IP, you may have 1 IP for both of your nameservers. The IP address that you must use is the one you assigned your domain to in the PBN hosting dashboard. The host can be ns1 and then ns2 for example.

Easiest thing to do would be to use Godaddy's own nameservers and just set up an A record where host is @ or your root domain and IP address is the IP you assigned your domain to. Don't forget to add CNAME record where host is www and it points to your root domain.
