I've been looking at two very generic keywords, and domains for both is available. They are supposed to get 45000 and 31000 searches a month, competition is nowhere to be found. But, I'm not sure if people actually searches just these keywords or keyword+anotherkeyword+++ so, is samurai reliable here?
How accurate is market samurai on keyword searches?

The results are very different from Google adwords I've found and have heard that Google adwords can be wildly different from actual searches. I would think that MS is accurate but look forward to other posts in this thread :0)

Google = google PLUS all of googles search partners (@33% partners and 67% actual Google)
SM = Google - -the same - I tested it against KE2.0 , MNF, Traffic travis - all the same - negligible diff - like 2 %

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the data from any given keyword research tool, Keyword Elite, Market Samurai, Google, etc. should be taken as a guideline, rather than hard facts chiseled in stone. They might not necessarily be dead on, but close enough to make a decision upon. A properly optimized site might not get twenty thousand hits a month for a competitive keyword, but it probably won't get three or four either. (Unless it really sucks.)

All keyword research software will throw similar result as google keyword tool because they scrape the data from there, they only create on different interface.
I suggest using Micro Niche Finder compare to Market Samurai because it's easier to find golden niche. Market Samurai has too many filter that can cause paralysis instead of analysis. You will spend a lot more time to do keyword research using Market Samurai.
That's just my opinion.

They should be the same as Google's own search estimates.
The raw data source is the KeywordToolExternal
The only difference will be we use daily, rather than monthly data.

MS or any keyword tool pulls its data from g00gle. And go00le itself sometimes puts some misleading numbers in the middle of its results. So the point is don't obsess over a single keyword. Because nobody really knows the whole truth. all what we are doing is testing and if we get at least 50% close to what we are hoping for then the effort can be considered successful.

Why at NMS website the moderators really only publish the comments that praise the software or the team.
While I own a paid version of MS and love it, I always think it is not the ultimate perfection and I suggested couple improvement but my comments never made it to be published.
For instance I expressed my opinion about how the SEO analysis can be improved by just adding some formula that sums up the results and spit out a final conclusion on the niche if it is easy, difficult or very difficult to jump on. I think this is one reason people are using MNF or KE instead of MS. I thought that would be helpful for you and for the rest of us. but my comment was deleted.

If you go through the posts on the front page of the blog right now you'll see criticism, debate and praise - all uncensored. Chances are you'll see your comment too. It might have just been picked up by Akismet and taken a day or two to be un-spammed.

For your situation, check to see the SEOT number under "broad" "phrase" and "exact" (you can also look at the PBR ratio)
Many times you'll see high SEOT Broad traffic, but SEOT Exact traffic of like 30.
I've run into the trap a few times where I see a great SEOT number, but it's a partial term (ie part of the broad SEOT for "running" includes any searches that happen for "running water") - I usually recommend making a decision off the broad SEOT, but checking that there's a meaningful exact SEOT available so that when you rank you'll get traffic.
I've been using MS for almost a year now - great tool, love it.
Most important thing to remember is that MS doesn't generate any data that isn't already available - it just pulls it quickly and puts it in one place so that you can get a proper look at it.

It sounds like it's an Apples vs Oranges comparison.
Market Samurai projects will default to "All Countries and Territories" / "English"
Google's Keyword Tool will give you data for "{Your Country}" / "{Your Language}"
So if you're in the USA, you would be seeing Google keyword data for "USA" / "English" and comparing it to Market Samurai's "All Countries and Territories" / "English".
...Just a hunch...
Without seeing the keyword, I can't tell for sure.

As accuracy goes MS is one of the best by far. It's numbers are very near to the numbers Google throws up. It beats Keyword Elite by far.
Bear in mind though, that even Google's figures are not 100%.
The caveat: Take any keyword result with a pinch of salt.
