Page Change Caused Big Ranking Drop - How To Fix?

Had a page rankings for the keyword "free XXXXXXXX" which was basically a bunch of content and a mailing list sign-up. I had been #1 ranked for almost two years.

At the beginning of September, I added maybe 200 words of text and a pricing table to the bottom of the page with inexpensive XXXXXXXX's -- something I thought visitors looking for free XXXXXXXX's would want to see / consider.

Within 3 days, my ranking dropped to #8 -- which equates to a loss of 2,500+ visitors per month.

Is it standard procedure for a page content addition to cause some major SERP dancing? Will my rankings recover or should I be concerned that my rankings will continue to slide without some intervention?

Would removing the new content help restore my rankings?

hi mate, probably a dance but you should also consider if the text you add are keyword rich - adding some content is a good thing but sometimes it results to ranking drop if the added text are keyword rich which may make your keyword density change as well.

The text I added was innocuous, I don't believe it would have effected keyword density all that much.

I would also suggest doing some competition research just to be safe.
