How do you create a private Instagram account?

Hi guys! I recently tried creating a private instagram account for a project and I did that on my phone. I did not connect my facebook , neither I allowed it to access my contact list or location. After creating it I was being suggested to follow all my friends. I have no idea how it knows who my friends are but I wanted to create a secret one because I know sometimes instagram sends out notifications about a friend being on instagram under a certain account and that would just be weird.

If anyone knows how I can create a secret one I would really appreciate

Create a fresh email account, create IG account with it. make sure you don't connect it with facebook.

Yes I was! I thought it shouldn't matter since I did not connect it to Facebook.

are you sure a new email is enough? The email I registered in wasn't my Facebook email, this is just super weird and feels really invasive

Is there like a sandbox kind of app that doesn't let one app get info from the cell phone and other apps?

At one point during the registration process you need to click continue without snychronising contacts, which is a small gray link at the bottom. If you click the blue button it will sync them. Its asshole design but oh well. Maybe thats the issue

I remember it asking me of I allowed it to access my contacts and I denied, I'm on android btw.
