When buying backlinks, what do you look at the most?

Before buying a backlink, what do you look at before making the decision to buy the link?

I used to go by Trust Flow alone - then I started hearing about Ahrefs UR/DR metrics being great. All I look at today is referring domains and UR/DR - I don't value TF that much, but I've started to feel like I'm making a mistake and that TF really is a great value, not only for the topical trust flow but for the TF-value itself.

Hence my question. What metrics do you value the most? Have you seen an effect over the years between all the various metrics?

traffic metrics are great but if no one is going to the site then whats the point.

The context of the link is more important. I look at:
- What kind of link is it? Is it a blog comment, a directory link, or a link within an article that is incredibly well written. The latter would obviously be much more valuable.
- Does the web page where I will put my link receive traffic? If so, it's possible that the link will get clicked, which affects my ranking positively.
- How many backlinks does the web page have where my link will be located?
- How many other links are there on the web page? The more, the worse because you lose link juice.
- Already mentioned, but of course, ******** or NoFollow.
- What type of website is it? Is their business to sell links (with fake spammy links that have increased their metrics) or is it a legit website that actually have a solid readership. The latter being way better obviously.

Not a Real looking website but a real website. If its a real website, no matter if it has low PA DA TF CF ABACADA bla bla, eventually it will grow.

"Relevancy" is the top criteria along with the factors stated.
If business is of the finance then always take links from Finance related websites.

If buying PBN links - the history of the domain, the backlinks and who else they linked to.
If outreach - backlinks + traffic + who else they linked to.

If i buy a domain with Ur 40 and Dr 38 (ahref metrics), 1k backlinks 500 Unique, and the 4% are by authority site.

And send a backlinks ti my blog Google Will penalize me?

I ask because the domain was closed 7 years ago and the backlinks was linked in that period.

The metrics and number of backlinks are completely irrelevant to the possibility of your website getting penalized. Google can penalize your website for unnatural link building even if you have links only from BBC, Forbes and huffpost, and you can get away with links spam build with GSA. That said there are no clean expired domains with 38 DR and 500 RD. Such domain would cost $200-500+ on the auctions (depending of the link profile and niche) so be aware what you are buying.
