Hi everyone,

I have a very stubborn niche by which keywords are dancing rankings in between page 2, sometimes dropped down to page 3 then comes back up to page 2.

Any advice on how to bust thru page 1, even just on the tail of it?

I'm currently dealing with the same issue. Are your links diversified enough?

When you're on Pages 1 to 3, you can test making changes to your search result appearance. Try making changes to the title & meta description to see if you can get improved CTRs. Apart from this, you can reach 'Page 1' by adding rich snippets, sitelinks, table of content 'Jump-To' snippets, etc. Google will start rewarding you for adding more value, if your competitors aren't doing the same.

Optimize your content to provide a better user experience and build quality links. If your keywords are dancing, maybe wait and see where you end up on.

Yes, very much so... The only thing I haven't done so far is press release and the top affiliate competitor is using them. Could that be it?

Send more links to that particular link.

I just had ordered links and spread them through different sub-urls. I don't wanna spook google and raise a flag.

Google use patent which test behavior of links after randomly rank drop over time.
in most cases webmasters are scared and removing links, what just confirming that those links was false.
Because it never happen with natural links.

But, this algorithm is used ONLY when Google will detect something wrong with links.
So, be careful what you will do next.

As mentioned, optimizing the page + building more backlinks = going up on the 1st page.

Good luck! :)

Getting to page 1 is like being in a beauty pagaent. The finalists all do all the same right things to be a top contender, but now what? Ultimately, it comes down to being perceived as having the most value, both before and after a vistor goes to the page.

A page that has been quality backlinked to near top of the SERPs may look good, like a top beauty contestant, until they open their mouth and answer a question badly. If you page answers questions visitors have badly, compared to the competition, that's the difference maker that keeps you from landing on page one, or staying there.

Other than the on-page factors, I think another sure thing that will help you bust to page 1 would be to add very hq links to your site - you will know that the links are hq enough when you add these links to your site, and your site begin to immediately go up the ranking a couple of notches higher. Adding more will yield better results - bad links will work otherwise.
Another important aspect is your site's authority or brand authority- if you have high enough authority or brand authority, that will help you inch higher as well.
