Had tried popup ad networks few months back but had left as I didnt have much budget and its draining money especially if you are not able to increase your ROI. Honestly I spent around $60 on popads, popcash & adfly as their initial deposit was the least and earned around $15 which hasnt reached the min withdrawal amount. However, I was using the internal tracker provided by the mobile affiliate network, that was not very detailed. Had also spent some money on ad spy networks to copy ad ideas. Had also signed up with PL for 6 months for LPs. Also got AWS free for one year. After reading on forums like affiliatefix, I learnt that one needs a solid tracker like Voluum / Adsbridge and this is a must otherwise dont go for it. And one needs to send minimum $500 worth of ads to get good tracking data to find out the positive ROIs. After looking at the monthly cost of cloud based trackers I gave up. I also learnt that one should avoid US and european countries and target east asian countries at first as the ad rates are cheaper. I had also thought of hosting my own free tracker like Prosper202 but that is also paid now and self hosted trackers are very slow. Also learnt from forums that more than half of the traffic on ad sites is bot traffic so one also needs skills to find out which sites to block out and build your own sweet list that is the golden list for each ad network you work with. To build that list you need to spend some $2000 on each ad network. So might pursue when i have more $$$ to spare. Just wanted to share some things I learnt during my $60 cpa journey. After that I joined cpabuild and earned $15 by just creating fake movie/ game hack templates for others to use. They host and provide the tools for LPs. tried to create youtube videos for gaming hacks but hasnt ranked yet.

it depends, you still can monetise your website with propellerads, and add an offer but show it only to the visitors that comes from the geo of the offer.
cus the problem here is that the offers are targeting most of times one country.
that's why we buy traffic targeting the country of the offer.

I totally agree that this is a great way to learn marketing hands-on. I was wondering the budget you suggest for someone relatively new to this kind method?

to test an offer of 1 to 2 usd payout, you will need between10 to 30usd to test it.
and if it's profitable and it converts will, then you will invest more to start generating earnings.
Your budget determines how many offers you will test daily or weekly or what ever.

Ok, so I think it's not so difficult to target my traffic with js,php. I will target geo + device to make multiple popup. I've never tested that but I think I will earn more without the middleman process no?

you still can monetise with both ways.
use them bot and see what you can get.

my opinion the best way is to go with low payout offers, and any placement with low CTR kill it.
and when you made some profits from some placements, then go and create a whitelist campaigns targeting only that placements.
that's a good strategy to start with.
bot traffic is in the whole traffic sources, you just have to know how to deal with it.
