Prevent newbies from creating threads!

My suggestion is to prevent accessibility for post creation in certain sections.

Allowed to post

• Introduction
• Want to buy
• Hire a freelance
• Lounge

The others section are Limited for creating threads but are allowed to interact.

This is to prevent from useless threads being made, and force them to actually read other threads before creating one. (also 'force them to read the helpful pinned posts)

I absolutely disagree with this one. Many people reg just to ask a question(s). If they couldn't, they might not reg. In fact, I created my account just to post one question (hence the stupid username). Then I had more and more and eventually I ended up liking this place and deciding to stay.

Let's be real, most newbies join to get help here. They would have no incentive to join if all they could do is read. They can already do that without an account.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you. Sure, a lot of posts with the same questions that are formed in a slightly different way can be annoying. However, you don't have to answer them if you don't want to. This forum is supposed to help people. Also, those "useless" threads give the Newbies a chance to interact with other members, ask some follow-up questions and maybe get some information they didn't even know they needed.

The forum is for asking questions and getting answers. If someone is not following the rules, report them. Why punish all new members because of this ? As mentioned in first reply, some might join just to ask a question only.

As a newbie, I find this very offensive and absurd. Not a correct way to treat people who have just joined a forum. Like lacifitra said we are here to learn!! You were once a newbie too and I'm sure you wouldn't want to be treated like this.

Or we can just put a huge warning above the Thread Posting Box stating something like "You should use the search box on the top right corner before creating a whole thread asking a question that has been asked thousands of time"

I'm not saying to completely block them off.. Just like on 15 posts you can start to PM others.. Something like that.. How often do you see the same questions being asked again..

Regarding the WTB and HAF, I could see some merit in suggesting people needed 15 posts to post in there, however all that would do in most cases would be to generate more spammy short posts to reach 15 posts.


Common sense though must prevail; If a person joins today, makes 1 post in WTB or HAF and it looks too goo to be true, then it possibly is.
It's better as a seller / service provider to request payment up front, in instances like this.

I am only denying you from making useless threads before you've replied to other threads and searched around.

I understand your point, and you really do have one, however, like I said already, fresh threads offer opportunities to the Newbie members that the old threads don't. Yes, they should use the "search" option and utilize the power of the collective knowledge. But, with fresh posts they can get instant answers. And, finally, should the Newbies miss out on the thing we all had - the opportunity to post? I don't think preventing posting would solve anything. In fact, it would only cause more problems.

I don't know that it is impossible to do that; I'm not sure the dollars invested would generate a return to the forum though. Also, in my opinion which is far from humble, I think that allowing all to see those gives people ideas on which to build businesses and services and also the desire to upgrade so they can offer that service legally.

Now, I'm just a suburbanite living in the middle of nowhere so I may be making no sense at all.

He'll have to upgrade to Jr Vip as you have to be a Jr Vip to get your username changed as it is allowed once per year for those that have that membership level and not allowed unless you do have that level but I agree, he could use for a name change for sure.

I am and maybe others too aren't stupid. Before i even create a account on a forum, i try to google it, or use the search function.
But sometimes threads are closed, you cannot find the right answer/details you are looking for, need to PM OP, or thread is possibly outdated AF.

Ofcourse the same thread in a different package is annoying, it happens everywhere not just on forums.

Example: You write on your instagram bio: I AM SUPERLESBIAN
There are still fools who asks the account if they like boys.

and ofcourse people who didn't even try to search. But it is what it is... zombies everywhere..
but in the end there is still enough chance that people developing themselves to a certain paint where leeching becomes sharing quality.
Atleast for me heheh.. i should rename my username in the future...
