Free domain name for a store?

Hello,

have a fast question regarding new shop. Starting to grow my instagram and it's growing FAST! Now have no money to invest to domain and/or hosting. Have possibility to host website for free but domain costs some money.

What do you think about free domain names like *.tk, *.ga ? Do people trust these domains? Maybe it will help if I would shorten it before posting somewhere?

Get .com. You can get it for $1 from Godaddy, don't use tk or ga etc.

Please don't use free domain, you can have cheap domain + hosting. You can't do real money if you are not ready to invest at least 20$ in your project.

That name is taken already with *.com sadly. That was one of the main reasons for me to move from *.com

Wouldn't recommend org or net if its an ecommerce store. If your majority followers are from Europe, *.eu would be good since *.com isn't available.
Also, as many others advised, stay away from free domains and hosting. But if you wanna try it:
Get free domain from www.freenom.com
Get free hosting on www.000webhost.com
These are the one's I've tried. Maybe after a couple sales, get the good/paid ones.

Yes have been using these providers for some other stuff to do. Never thought opposite than to invest just after the first sale as I can get x3 profit out of one sale. But will have to think smth different regarding the name, because my followers are all over the place (us, uk, eu).

The best option would be to tweak your store name to fit an available .com domain.

If that's impossible for whatever reason, then you can try variations of the domain until you find an available .com. For example, if your store name is "keyword", and you were hoping for keyword.com, try going for keywordS.com, buykeyword.com, and so on. Soner or later you'll find an available .com with your exact store name.

In my experience, that depends entirely on the niche.

As far as Google is concerned, there is zero difference in ranking whatsoever between a .com and any of the new gTLDs. But as far as visitors are concerned, there is a measurable difference in the click-through and conversion rates when switching to/from a non-standard TLD. In some niches I've seen the traffic increase, and in other niches I've seen it drop to less than half.

Since OP doesn't have money to buy extra domains for split-testing, a .com would be the safest option by far.

Godaddy and 1&1 have ongoing promos to get your first .com domain for $1, and a few other providers have intermittent coupon codes with the same offer.
