GaryVee isn't as authentic as he seems....

It's just insult to the intelligence when someone try to teach me how to send DM on Instagram.
I don't take it personally but I don't see any reason to listen to someone who teach how to send DMs on instagram. I mean, whats the next thing that I can learn from him? How to add members to my facebook group? if one day I will choose to start a carrier as a motivation speaker I will have what to learn from him. but until I am under the spotlights I will prefer to keep my it own way and keep learning. He should copy Tony robbins model and focus on what he is good at. Motivation speaks. to be honest, if someone wants to make money everything is here and for free. BHW is the best place for mastering your marketing skills & tech. I consider this forum as a goldmine. it's like X200 Gary vee

Then sorry if you take this as an insult - but by the sounds of it - you really have no clue of how to break through the mental barrier with customers or clients.

Anyone can send an email - but very few can actually send highly-converting email.

And pairing IG hashtags with local search is something very, very few people do and even think of - and that if anything is a perfect source to easy clients.

And here's a practical use of exactly what he's saying in the video. Provide value with no expectations and you'll be surprised.

Sent this out to hand-picked Youtube channels with 2m+ subscribers. 90% replied being super grateful, and so far 60% in total have promoted us heavily, for free - and plenty of sales.

It's all about finding that special edge and connect with the person behind the username or email address. If you manage to do that, you have the sale or client in the bag.

Wow, looks like nobody here has actually watched at least more than 10 videos. Get a grip, guys.

I'm actually a big fan of Gary Vee. There are some things I take with a grain of salt, follow unfollow is one of them. As stated, he's an investor in a lot of those companies so your ad money is in his favor. I also think he can say that because all the brands he markets he doesn't have to start from the ground up. Most of the brands he works for have been around a while and already established. They've just done a horrible job of growing online.

He hires a lot of employees who grew big accounts. You know a lot of employees started those accounts by doing follow unfollow.

I also think follow unfollow as a whole isn't very effective. The kind of follow unfollow we do is pretty effective. Follow unfollow is such a small percentage of what I do for my business I don't lose sleep over what someone else says I should or shouldn't do.

Even though I don't agree with him on everything, I think he is pretty smart with branding. The fact that he has created his own brand as an expert and now has businesses knocking on his door all day every day, is awesome.

have most likely spent 50+ hours pinpointing their audience completely

Yep. That's how a proper botting is really supposed to be done, and that's why even with botting available to an average joe - true BHW botters will still be many steps ahead of the masses. We're used to having to work our asses off to get things done, and that's how it should be. Versus my friend Jack who just bots targeted on a celeb that follows him and then complains that his bot doesn't work anymore (*cough* target exhaustion,)

but in order to break through today's age is to really personalize it and perhaps even adding value at first glance - something you won't be able to accomplish with bots without sounding spammy.

That's why there's things like image recognition, which can vastly enhance the whole DM sending experience for the target. If you just make your bot mention something very specific to the account in the DM - the target user will be 99.99% convinced that it was sent on a personal note indeed. Hell, go watch google's assitant making a call -

Who said? I've grown an Instagram account to 80k doing literally nothing other than F/U. Also, the account has an engagement rate of 9.47%

9% at 80k is great. What's your niche?

is 9% even good though? that sounds pretty average.

Can you grow an account to 80k that'll get around 7-8k likes? Depeding on how frequently he posts, 7200 likes is actually AWESOME and can make a good earning through just selling shoutouts

that's a very personal, time consuming approach. Quality over quantity, I like your strategy. But then again, if you want things on autopilot to be able to focus on other things you might find more important than an account growth, then botting is definitely something to consider.

My entire post perfectly worded in one sentence. Thank you. This is exactly the point I was trying to make.

I have watched a few of his videos and im not a fan, I see his vids on instagram about " you need to work your ass off, else you won't make it" and thats total bullshit imo. just annoying overall imo.

It seems like the Barry V bum artists have come to play. Pure marketing skills on your behalf. Shill your shite on a marketing forum cause your budget is running low.

ps. For the morons I know his name ain't Barry. You just wouldn't get it. Nobody cares about your shitty shill threads. You are beyond a joke.

Yes, but Gary's tweet is likely not referring to 'Travel' or 'Food' or 'Luxury' or 'Babes' or all the other niches that we target, and much more likely real life businesses or personalities / artists / freelancers. This is what I meant for poor engagement audience. Not so much with picture 'likes' but if you are a real business and grown from Instagram F / UF, they might like your pictures but what is the actual product / service engagement (& brand - audience emotional currency)? This is why I believe Gary made this comment. This is something I agree with.

Are you serious? Follow / Unfollow is pretty terrible for building a quality audience...Follow / Unfollow can, and will lead to poor or mediocre engagement.

I think you can still build a quality audience using Follow / Unfollow as long as your content is engaging to begin with. I only run a handful of accounts that I put a lot of effort into so my experience may not be the norm.

Yes, all about proper targeting. Too many people in this thread complaining that F/U isn't as effective when all they did is some shitty hashtag targeting and maybe a few locations.

Like bro, that ain't gonna help you at all if your content is shit and you're not targeting the right niche. Gotta mix and shuffle too man...

Yes of course, I was referring to Gary's tweet in the sense of a real business or freelancer account, not niched pages. To me there is a big difference.

He's worth well over a $100,000,000 and is doing pretty well for himself using what works for him.
If you don't like his approach, don't follow it.

The guy is positioning himself to buy the New York Jets while most of the people hating on him are probably struggling to get their insta page to 100k followers without getting banned.

true but you can say the exact same about folks on top of MLMs like primerica, WFG etc...

Following a specific approach for growing your social media presence and running an MLM company are two different things.

I think I was extremely specific with my words. What you wrote isn't what I meant.

He may be following the money, but he's following the money based on a legitimate claim.

Follow unfollow is a horseshit way to grow accounts anywhere beyond a few thousand followers.

I think I was also extremely specific with my words when I said he's probably going to buy the New York Jets while most of you hating on him are struggling to get your account to a couple hundred thousand followers without getting it banned. Where did MLM come from?

You don't like his approach, don't follow it. Still the fact doesn't change that he:
  • has 3.6Million followers and gets hundreds of thousands of views on his videos,
  • has a digital agency with clients such as Pepsico, General Electric, Unilever, Toyota,
  • is a bestselling author,
  • gets paid six figure fees for speaking gigs.

While you're here on a blackhat forum complaining about how he's promoting a legitimate way to use a platform.

I guess people here are smart enough to know who's the smarter of you two and who to listen to.

Peace out!
