I've read a few posts on the forum questioning whether or not you can make money through surveys. So I decided to end it once and for all and give you the complete low down on how you CAN make money through them.
But before I do that, I need to make sure we're all in the right mindset. First up, you have to stop being marketed to, and start marketing! This is perhaps the most vital step in the whole system. You have to become the predator rather then the prey.
Once you're able to understand that, you should realise that you don't make money thorugh surveys by taking them, but rather in two different ways. You can either sell access to a paid survey site, or run a free survey site.
A free survey site works like this:
? Visitor comes to your website
? Squeeze page offers them a FREE membership to your website
? Visitor enters email address and other info
? Visitor is forwarded to ?Members Area?
? Members Area gives instructions to new member
? Members Area provides list of survey options to member ? CPA offers along with other info
? Members Area provides other ?related? offers to member
? Auto-responder sends Confirmation email to new member
? Auto-responder follows up with new member every X days with other surveys and/or offers
And a paid survey site works like this:
? Visitor comes to website via affiliate (ideally)
? Salespage provides visitor with the benefits of survey site
? Visitor BUYS membership
? Visitor is forwarded to Members Area
? Members Area provides list of survey options to members
First lets have a look at how free survey sites work.
Running a free survey site is about as simple to set up as it gets. All you need is a squeeze page as your home page where you offer a free membership to your survey site in exchange for their email address. Once the visitor enters their email address, they are instantly taken to the ?Members Area? of your site. Here you will give them instructions on how to make money taking surveys and provide them with a list of survey offers. These offers will all be CPA offers that pay you per LEAD generated. Usually $1.00 to $2.50 per lead.
You'll want to instruct your ?members? to fill out as many offers as they can, the more they fill out, the more money you make.
You may also want to add other sections to your website for your members. Provide them with some information about other ways they might be able to make money in their spare time or on the internet.
The best way to do this is as a ?reporter?. Let your ?members? know about these products by giving them some information and articles on the topic and then hit them with your affiliate link.
After this, your auto-responder will do much of the work for you. You want it set to send out offers to your members every day, sometimes more.
So what are the pros and cons of running a free survey site?
PROS
1) Easy to set up
2) No Selling
3) Cast a Wide Net
4) No refund issues
CONS
1) No upfront revenue
2) no affiliates
With a little effort, you could easily have a free survey site up and running in a day or two. Maybe a couple of days if you did everything yourself and really took your time.
Another plus to running a free site is you don't have to sell anything. You're giving away the other info everyone else is selling for free, why would anyone not at least give your site a try before going off to a site where they have to pay? This allows you to cast a wider net.
Follow up your members!
This is the key. The goal here is to strike while the iron is hot. Your members are ?leads? and those leads are very ?hot?. You need to follow up with them at least once a day.
You don't have to physically sit down and send out 2 emails a day to all your members, you can just load up your auto-responder with a series of emails. Most email offers you will send out will be nothing more than cut-and-paste jobs from the email promos the advertisers give you.

Simply put, paid survey sites offer information and links on surveys for a fee. We all know how they work, but let's take a little bit of time to explain the Pro's and Con's.
Perhaps the biggest pro is the ability to leverage the efforts of affiliates. The most important positive of running a Pay site isn't the money you receive up front from customers, it's the ability you get to have a large amount of affiliates promote your product for you. Ruck (an old member of the forum) ran an extremely successful paid survey site for a while and said that it was incredibly easy cash.
When you have an army of affiliates who can provide you with a steady stream of free traffic there's no risk involved. It's important that you fully harness the power of this traffic by collecting email addresses. This is how product owners build huge opt in lists, and leverage them for profits. A visitor who doesn't buy from your paid survey site may instead choose to opt in to a free opt in offer you have on your salespage.
This visitor who opts in is still a lead. You can keep in contact with them and try to persuade them to make a purchase down the road, OR you can follow up with them a couple days later with some offers for some free surveys, or maybe a free membership to your own free survey site.
Another pro is many people just believe that if they have to pay for something than it must be better than something they get for free. No matter what you do, it will often be impossible to avoid this.
CONS
There are some Cons that come with running a paid site. First off, you have to sell. You're going to need a strong offer and salespage to convert visitors to buyers. There is some selling involved in the free model, but not nearly as much as there is in the paid model. It's much easier to ?sell? someone on giving you their email address, then it is to sell them on whipping out their credit card for the information you are offering.
Ok, well that's basically it. Please be aware that I did not come up with this method myself, although I have used it successfully to generate a fair amount of cash.
