What would you do?

Thought some people might be interested in an update.

I started using Jarvee two weeks ago for follow/unfollow and likes.

At first I saw reasonable progress with about 100 new followers per day, but then it levelled out and growth was slow again.

But over the last week strange things were going with my IG account - as a lot of people seemed to experience.

So I scaled back Jarvee and switched it off for the last couple of days since it seems botting is linked to the bans a lot if people were getting.

What I noticed on my account was my follower numbers suddenly dropped by about 1k, which I wasn't too worried about because I guessed the lost folloers would be bot accounts which IG had deleted.

Then another day my follower count suddenly went up by about 500, without follower notifications for anything close to that.

Anyone know what could have happened there?

I also was often unable to view profiles, which I believe was because of too many actions on my account...?

I will watch these forums for a while before deciding when/whether to run Jarvee again.

Advice always appreciated!

It sounds like you had bought followers, they dropped and then the company you bought them from refilled them for you. They usually do that.

Thanks @thelastvacation. I did buy some followers but it was over a year ago so I'm not sure if they would be refilled now, but that could be it I guess... wouldn't I still get follower notifications though?

Yeah but I didn't recieve any blocks of follower notifications. I could be wrong, but my guess is that somthing else is going on.

It sounds like normal bot behaviour to me, it's not like someone is checking your account every day to see when your followers drop, the account that sold you the fake followers set up their bot to detect when the followers you bought drop and then refill them automatically.

I got shadow banned last Saturday. I did a ton of likes in a big engagement group because I wanted my latest post to be big. It was stupid really, I knew I was taking a risk by doing that alongside all the actions from Jarvee. So that backfired!

Currently reconsidering whether botting is a good idea at all. Hasn't been working all that well.

I'm resting the account ATM hoping to lift the shadow ban. When I start posting again I think I'll either not do any botting or only set it to do likes and some comments.

My follow-back ratios via the bot have been poor anyway - which is interesting because they seem much better from manual follows. I saw a thread here the other day where someone was wondering whether they had a follow shadow ban, I'm also suspecting this could be a thing.

Thats the issue with botting, it's quite pain in the ass to maintain a consistent growing account.

You can try other methods that doesn't require you to perform large actions, like purchasing some shoutouts to reach a certain number and do IG dm groups to start with.

It's not a viable method to built mass account but at least your account will still be there in the long run.

Thanks @2xdswu Yeah, I'm using DM groups - but of course these come with their own issues too, like the shadowban I mentioned in my last post!

For me, shoutouts haven't worked very well. I know a lot of people here say they've done better with shoutouts compared to promoting posts, but I've found the opposite.

I think maybe shoutouts work better for the typical type of account marketers manage, rather than one like mine which appeals mainly to 25-35 year-old women who want to inspiration and advice on health and fitness. I certainly haven't seem much growth when I tried them anyway.

Then you can get powerlikes services, any to be exact. As long as your comfortable with the sellers that you're purchasing with.

I know what you mean for the things you mentioned. It's quite a big downside, but I suggest you going do DM Groups not using telegram groups.

Those are hugely ineffective and quite a sketchy place to be getting from tbh the way they do it with premium paying members and etc.

Ah, that's interesting - I have been using Telegram groups. Didnt realise that going via DM instead of Telegram made a difference. Good to know, thanks @2xdswu :-)

Well, after resting my account for 48hrs I posted a nice little workout video yesterday - only to discover the hashtag shadowban is still on my account.

Sigh.

I'm not thinking of giving up, with a 3+ year old account and 30k+ followers I still have lots going for me on IG - but the platform doesn't make it easy to stay positive sometimes!

All I'm trying to do is build my account and reach more people who would benefit from my content (I'm very much focused on providing real "value" for my followers).

I tried and tried playing by IG's rules and couldn't get decent growth - meanwhile I hear on these forums about marketers gaining absolutely explosive growth with blackhat techniques often without even creating unique content. So I try some of those strategies and IG bashes me back even further.

Will keep going though. Hopefully my persistence will be rewarded one of these days!

Thanks to everyone following this. I think I'll keep it going as a journey thread. Looks like there are others on these forums in my situation so maybe it will help some people, if only so they know they're not the one in the struggle!

Input always welcome :-)

I'm not sure now whether to rest the account a little longer or just go back to posting and the shadowban lifts eventually...I think I'll post again today and if this one still doesn't show on hashtags I'll rest the account again.

Hey good luck OP, trying to grow a single ig account myself, these tips seem nice :D

Not much to report.

Have kept Jarvee off for a week.

Still shadow banned.

Growth very slow now.

I just know my account has so much potential and feedback shows it provides real value. It's very frustrating to not be able to reach more people.

I've even started considering the child account strategy I've seen mentioned here, but that might be a step too far for me and possibly too time consuming anyway.

Sigh.

Hoping this will be a better insta-week!

So I didn't post for a week and now it looks like the shadowban has finally gone, which is nice.

Engagement not much improved, but at least I'm in with more of a chance now I know that wasn't permanent.

Automation hasn`t really did big changes to my account, at least to notice. If you do it really carefully, i doubt something bad will happen, for example i did got shadowbanned {my reach got lowered), but that wasn`t because of autoamtion, i did some other nasty stuff :D But after a week or so the shadowban disappeared it self, so still nothing much. I personally would start automation, but start carefully and if you want to be on safe side dont do more than 500 follows a day (my experience). As long as you`re not doing dumb sh*t, like auto dming, commenting, liking enormous amounts, your enagement or reach will not drop. It will help and you wont have to spend hours doing all that manually. P.S i suggest don`t do auto commenting, because that can be tricky.
Great answer. Thank you for sharing the outlines.

How do you know the shadowban is gone if your engagement isn't better???

If my account got deleted after all the years I've spent crafting and growing it I'd be devastated.

I'm also seeing a lot of posts here where people say engagementand reach can be damaged by automation.

So I'm very nervous about it.

But ATM I feel like I'm behind the market as so many fitness channels have follower counts much higher than mine.

What would you do?

Advice please!
Very valid concern. Make your followers like you on other sites also like YouTube or make them visit your website. Do not rely only a social networking website. I hope that your account remains in good standing but you should always remain covered for unexpected situation.

It was a hashtag ban. So I know it's gone because my new post appeared in recent/top posts for the hashtags I used. :-)
