I know this is too general a question, and SEO is a whole world.
My question focuses mainly on the organic SEO to forums on Google.
Is the SEO of a forum different from a site with articles?
I'd love to hear from you and get some good guides on how to start and from where..
Thank you very much and sorry about my English?

Make a lot of content, make people ask and aswer, after some time your forum will be ranking naturally for long term keywords.

Forum traffic or SEO depends on many factors. You can't do SEO for a forum in a traditional way. You need to make step cleverly. Question and answer is the heart of the forum. If people find a lot of questions and answers then they will spend more time. In a niche website, it gains rank based on content. Content is king and it always be. You also need to make good content with the proper guideline for making a forum popular. When you have a huge amount question and answer then it becomes popular.

Beside this, you can start finding questions from other forums, Quora, Yahoo answer, Reddit and some other. Then you should write the proper answer and publish it on your forum. It will enrich your site and beside this, you can start making basic and contextual backlinks for the forum. It will gain ranking naturally.

I think if you are starting a new forum, you should ought to just focus in vetting the forum posts, and make sure that there is no spam in your forum. There are a lot of posters that will invade your forum with spam - thus, vetting your forum from spam will take a large portion of your time.
Once your site has sizable content, the content will naturally be noticed by the SE, and your site will start to rank thereafter.
