I recently stumbled upon this messenger application called "Kik", I'm sure many of you have probably already seen it but nevertheless I'd like to consult with you guys, The app is widely used around the US and in other countries as well but most of the user base is from the US, I've tried advertising on it through simple bots and such and the results were a lot better than you might think. I realize snapchat or other social media might be more effective but this is pretty decent as well if you're looking for something on the side and got the time for it, I definitely recommend this to everyone who's interested and I'm telling you it could really pay off. There's also this other app called "We chat" or something, I haven't personally tried it but I intend to and will update if anyone's interested. Cheers

In the past I've heard a lot of people getting C&D's from kik. I would stay away from spamming kik IMO.

It does take quite the effort but I found it to be quite rewarding, However maybe you're right. I'll look into this further.

what about Pidgin ? I know that this messenger support Jabber, AIM, ICQ, GTalk, MSN, Yahoo!, Sametime and other. And it has videocalls

I'm not sure how many people use it. Kik is much more widespread than Pidgin.

kik is still very popular nowadays but you might try to switch to discord and advertise your products there, you could partner with servers so they would link to your own discord server or website/shop/etc. telegram is also a good option but you need a phone number to register an account, you can buy sim cards or phone numbers in bulk though or use an alternative like google voice which offers free numbers.

the app you mentioned, wechat, is a chinese platform. foreigners also use it but most of the people are chinese, so if your target audience is china, then go for it.
