Growing a Funny IG page - Total Disaster

Hey everyone.

So I decided to start growing a instagram page and I picked the Funny niche (funny videos / memes). And decided to take a different approach this time and pay bigger pages for a shoutout to accelerate my followers growing rate.

I ended up paying $180 for 2x 12 hours shoutouts, on two different pages. Total reach 3 million followers.

I created a nice video ad and everything, both videos got around 20k views BUT i didn't get a single follower back. Unbelieveble! Is this common to happen when doing shoutouts?

I'm starting to believe that the pages I went with have mostly botted followers and video views...

Why don`t you use just Jarvee? This niche `s insanely easy. Usually, people buy shoutouts for e-commerce.

Looks like you did really bad research.
Total reach doesnt matter that much. Look at engagement.
Make sure they are posting 1-2 post /day if they spam 8/day your ad will get lost.

40k combined views is nothing for 3million followers. You probably paid a fake influencer. Shoutouts are pretty dead at this point anyways.

If you still want to invest money, start DMing Pages with a few hundred thousand followers and good engagement and ask to buy in to their dm groups

well as you've said you just started. so why not give it a little more time.

Sounds like you either used bad content for your shoutout or the pages were inactive. My 77k follower page gets more than 20k video views

If you pay sites for shoutouts with the same niche you’re prolly not getting a lot of followers. Moreover chose a more specific and unknown niche just do some research. The funny pictures/memes niche has way to much competition. Before you buy a shoutout check the page is active. At lest 3-5 posts a day and minimum 300k views on videos

Did the people doing your shoutout not tag you correctly? You should have atleast gotten a few followers. If not your pics weren't interesting enough.

They did tag me correctly and the video ads even got some likes. But no followers on my end... I really start to believe that they bot views and likes to all their posts.

you could have created child accounts and used them with a bot so you could gain a huge audience over a period of time with same amount of money.

I really don't want to bot followers / likes, I was trying to grow it organically from the beggining. But seems like I don't have a choice now lol

buying shoutouts work well if you have products to sell, certainly it won't work that well with a niche like that.
