Let's elaborate a little on the Twitter thing:

The trick to finding leads on Twitter is having the right footprint. In other words, we need to be searching for very specific tweets, and then simply monitoring the search page.

For example, a software developer could search for something like this in Twitter:

exclude:replies exclude:retweets lang:en -filter:nativeretweets recommend OR quote OR suggest OR "looking for" OR hiring OR "software developer OR developer OR c++ OR c# OR python OR freelancer OR guru OR expert -filter:links

• You'll replace the red bits with your keywords, all seperated by the word OR (uppercase).
• The yellow bits are all different variations of whatever you think people will refer to you as.
• The pink bits are pretty self explanatory.
• Finally the green bits, basically little filters so that Twitter doesn't give us any spammy useless tweets. We don't want to see those.

And that's that. Use that footprint in your search, keep an eye on the search page, you should get a fair amount of leads every day if you add enough relevant keywords to it.

Here's a nice little trick I discovered recently: Twitter Search Operators.

Why not use Twitter as a notification platform too? People regularly ask questions such as "Can someone recommend a good SEO service?". What's easier than replying to these tweets, and getting yourself some work there too?

So, we're going to fire up IFTTT again.

Go ahead and create a new recipe. Choose Twitter (You'll need to link your account if you haven't already).
Choose "New tweet from search".
Use something like this as your footprint:

recommend SEO service ?

The question mark in your search is important. It literally means "find tweets where people are asking a question".

And there you go. Use whatever notification system you prefer as your "then" action. Stick to regular email, if you're like me, and want to filter everything.

Final note: I'd recommend putting a spin on the footprint I mentioned. Find what works for you. I see a lot of potential here.

I got lots of irrelevant tweets with IFTTT.
Is the code not broken?
