WP backup question

Do Updraft Plus backups contain the Media Library of a WP site?

My media library is disintegrating (thumbnails disappearing). I got hacked and they sent out a bunch of emails and put some bitcoin mining software on my site.
Anyway, either that hack or the fix has messed up my media library.

Does anyone know if WP backups usually include the media library?

yes, they include.

Never used it, but a great plugin for backups is Duplicator: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

I use it all the time, never had any problem. However if your site is large, you might have to get pro.

OK, so once I get my Media Library fixed how do I protect my site? Is WordFence a good option? I use Eli's Anti-Malware for checking for malware. It was 40 bucks and I also have the free version of WordFence. Is that enough or what should I be doing?

You should get the following plugins as well:
Login Lockdown - this will lock IP addresses out after certain number of failed login attempts. You can set the parameters to lock them out as long as you want.
Activity Log - this will track all logged in user activity on your WP dashboard. Every now and then you can look through for any unusual activity

I am going to need to do this. Not taking security seriously has my site in a mess.

How can I find out if the disappearing images is my only problem? My Anti Malware says that there is nothing on my site. Is it possible that the images are my only problem, so I just need to upload them again and then put them into my posts. (I don't have all of the images saved on my hard disk but I do have quite a few of them but it will still take hours. I have about 150 posts)
