Hello,

I have just started a wordpress blog and purchased my domain hosting and SSL with godaddy. But now I want to move to another host that is providing free SSL certificate because godaddy charge around $75 per year for SSL so I want to move.

What I want to do is that I dont want to move the godaddy SSL certificate to the new host and want to install free SSL certificate of the new host,

So please guide me can I leave the godaddy SSL certificate there and just move my site to new host and install new SSL certificate which the new host is providing free ? can I do that ?

Thanks.

your have to point your domain to your new
host provider.

you need to get a new host.
ask the host for there name server info
goto godaddy and in the domain dns name server section add the host name server info.

it usally two ip address ns1 and ns2

when go daddy has eventually updated there dns the new nameserver info will point to your host nameserver.

you then go into cpannel and add the new domain .

then setup free ssl.

You can leave godaddy ssl there and move and install another ssl, every hosting now a days offers free ssl certificate.

why not ask your new host for the migration and the SSL. That is what they are there for.

Yes I know that some host provides migration free, but I want to learn it my self.

That's what I want to do, but is it sure that changing SSL certificate will not do any change to my website back links ?

If you not moving the entire sever, just the website then you will npt take the ssl certificate with you. Just cancel it and other services you dont need

Please follow the steps below:
  1. Migrate your entire website to your new host with Duplicator plugin or VPSrobots which is a Linux server control panel.
  2. Point your domain name to the new IP.
  3. At last, install a free SSL certificate, Let's encrypt, for your domain.
  4. Additionally, keep your current website active for one week at least. In case, anything goes wrong during website migration, your original website is also accessible.

If your using wordpress theres a plugin called All in one migration download it and install it. export the file for your website.

Then point your domain to the new ip for host. Install wordpress then install the same plugin all in one migration. Import the file that you downloaded before and you will have a exact wordpress of your previous one on the new host. Then install the free ssl certificate for you domain.

If you don't understand these steps and need help you can message me and ill help you out. Its pretty easy.
