How to get the username I want?

The username I want for a new account I have (5k) is currently In use. The top two variations of it are also in use.

When I check these accounts, they are all private, have 0-1 posts/follower/following! Completely useless!

Are these accounts bots? Or do you think there is a service that sells usernames? I would be willing to buy but the accounts do not respond to my DMs. Anyone know If I could maybe get IG to terminate the inactive accounts? I really want this username lol.

Doesn't matter, you can forget about IG doing anything for you when it comes to taken names.

just go to Instagram office and they will probably help

I'm not famous (yet) and this is a fantasy name, it doesn't belong to anyone really.

Most likely is a dormant/forgotten account.

Someone made and lost the login info or never logged back in.

And account will be around for who knows how long.

Also yes there is a service that sells usernames.

Try reporting the account as much as you can. Maybe, just maybe they take it down

There are some contacts who can unlock names for you. Its not cheap though. Would run you at least $2000 and there is still risk involved.

IG wouldn't help you. Even if you got a 3rd party to unlock the account for you, you would run the risk of suspension of the account if IG found out.

Tough luck if they are taken. I'd move on to find something else.

You can't do anything about that, but to come up with another username, if that's the case. Unless you're a huge influencer, you'll have no luck in this one.
