Linkbuilding when you get TOP 1

Hi guys
I get the first position on my keyword. Should i do still do link building? Its a keyword for amazon affiliate site (5k volume per month). Not so much difficult

I never stop building links. If a KW reaches top 3, I'll slow velocity, but continue to drip links. I do this in case any of my existing links drop and to make the page seem like it's still relevant / worthy of people linking to

You could be wasting resources by linking more once you reach #1, so what you can do is:
1/ monitor closely what other people on page 1 are doing; if they are aggressive adding links, then add links; if not, then no,
2/ dominate page 1; use either parasite sites or other sites to have more share of page 1; this way you protect better your income.

yes so does not look like a lot of links, so your position should be somehow secure; but is it page links though? it is not just a question of looking at pages, it is also a question of looking at the entire site; and it is not just links to look at, it is do-follow RD that matters (link count can be misleading).

check the above image weekly (in particular check #2 & 3), this way you can see if someone is aggressive, also monitor if a site is climbing from page 2 or bottom of page 1.

anyway at #1 dont worry too much, work on developing your site and adding more keywords/products, probably better usage of your time.

Why not target another keyword with another page and keep building links to the root domain?

Just continue building backlinks. That's one thing you shouldn't stop doing, as much as possible. Also, observe what your competitors do.

If you are already at the number 1 spot, I'd focus on another type of link - hq high authority links from very high sites, such as news sites, magazines, etc.
This is to help you build a brand for your domain, and a higher authority would be beneficial for long term ranking for that particular keyword.
Don't forget social signals as well - never neglect this.

Just slow it down and also check what your competitors below are doing.

I plugin a few parasites.

If I land up in Top 3, I slow down the link velocity and start plugging in Parasites (and obviously make backlinks from them as well)
