I had been writing on AC for over 6 months. I haven't written regularly but did only 2-3 articles per month. But today I logged in and found that my account was banned temporary and I needed a W9 form to come out of suspension. I am not living in US and I can't provide a US form.

What could be the possible reasons for this ban? Is there a way I can get my account without submitting the form? Or I just need to create another account?

Does AC keep a watch on our IP addresses ?

Yeah, I think they have the ip address. I got an account banned, AC said it was linked to another banned account, I had.

They don't auto detect your IP, but they can check up on any linking within accounts anytime they want vibby. If you're non US there's really not much you can do other than trying to submit fake W9 info, which is obviously not worth risking. Since you weren't submitting many articles to the account anyway, I would just start up another one

W9 is a tax form. U've probably earned a certain amount of money that now requires u to start paying taxes on what u've grossed. Have u tried telling them u r not a US resident?

Happened to me a few days ago, they made it VERY clear nothing can be done without the form, the W-9 one. SO you will need to re-open an account. And linked to another banned account as another poster just mentioned, eek, they are sounding like Ebay. Ebay bans one account and finds about almost any other unless you purchase another computer- don't know how they do it. You don't even have to be committing fraud to be suspended. Happens when you are a seller mostly. SO be careful with Paypal they freeze accts alot like their partner Ebay.

No I havent reached any close to $500 which is the amount when they ask the form. And telling them that I am not a US citizen will do no good I guess.
