Why are Wikipedia creation services so expansive?

Why is this service so expensive? To me, either you have a Wiki page worthy service/name/event or not. Editors either publish or not.

Is there a lot more to this service than I am seeing?

Yes, I know that some corporations want Wiki pages and of course, they are not Wiki ready so that you can charge their asses.

But is it that difficult to add a small player with citations?

I am perplexed.

You might as well ask, "why can't I find an affordable place in midtown Manhattan/LA/Tokyo?" Those spaces cost what they cost, whether you are big corporate or small fry. The basic answers are 1) approved editorial links and articles are expensive, 2) Getting or keeping a prominent page on a top 10 trafficked site like Wikipedia is expensive, and 3) having a successful track record in writing a durable Wiki entry that stays up, commands a larger price in the marketplace. Oh, and Wikipedia actively purges links to pages they deem to be spammy, regardless of how good the Wiki article is.

Your options are to do the write up yourself, pay the market rate for somebody else to do it, or edit an existing relevant entry to include a link or citation to your url and hope it gets past Wikipedia's monitors. There are methods for finding broken links on Wiki you should explore, where you replace the broken link with a link from a Wiki-like page you created on your own site for that purpose.

One variation on this (fourth option) is to find a link that is broken because the domain is.expired, buy that domain if possible, and duplicate the link page (oldsite.com/blahblahblah) with your own version of the url. This way the link on Wikipedia can stay intact and unchanged, so the moderation is never triggered.

The thing is that if they want to offer some guarantee of uptime they might be expecting at least 2 o 3 drops during the lifetime of the article provoked by some rough wikipedia editors. I don't know if you remember dmoz, but nowadays Wikipedia is the best replacement. I've been able to put one link to my site long in one of the most relevant wikipedia niche pages, and it was way better than 100 of those $10 PBN TF15 offers. The problem is that after 1 yr it ended dropping, and I wasn't able to return it back to it's place . If they guarantee at least some years with that $1000, it's totally worth. But personally I won't pay for it, because I can't believe they are able to keep it up. It will end at best in 3 or 4 months in some sort of scammy deal 90% of the cases.

Wiki is nice of you can make it stick. Bloggers naturally link to my site when they find my site as a reference in wikipedia. I'm not sure how good a company page is unless you have a well known brand.

Ah, no, I never checked if there were any guarantees at all. I will check. In that case, it makes more sense.

Still, if no guarantee, it seems very expensive.

there is no guarantee with ANY site on the internet that is not owned directly by the person selling the link - and even then... he might die, stop paying for the site, and it's gone *puff* like magic

No, I mean create a page about a person, rather than a business.

Link from Wikipedia seem to be reasonably priced, most will get deleted eventually, but for a few months, it would be worth the money.

But, as I said ... I am referring to page creation.

I am fishing for more info. It is obviously not that easy, or the fees would not be that high.

I am trying to find out the barriers to page creation.

Obviously, my first thought was just to create the page.

But having a thought to do it and it getting accepted .... THAT ... Is the missing info.

Because getting listed on Wikipedia is like getting listed on BHW. Spammy content is immediately deleted, and it takes a ton of time and effort to get approved. Do it wrong the first time, and it's like getting a bad criminal record.

Yes, but you absolutely have to get it right the first time because Wikipedia articles are difficult to get back once after they're deleted. Same with BHW. Try posting a banned topic or thread the 2nd time and it's so much harder. It's like having a criminal record.
