back in the day like 2014 you put some tags under the photo like #boy #instagram #sun #l4l #fashion etc. and you would get 50likes just because of the hashtags within 1 minute.

Nowadays i put the same tags and i can be happy if i get 2 likes with it.

what did change ?

1) Its 2018
2) You are not one of the few who use hashtags, there are millions out there who are not doing the same shit. They even hashtag #the
3) There has been a chunkload of changes in Instagram's organic reach algorithms

Algorithm changes unfortunately :(

Fast cash is done for now, takes much work and dedication!

Algorithms and traffic could be the main changes.Traffic on instagram is increasing everyday you see.

Most reflections in IM will start with "back in the day..."

You could say that about Craigslist back in the day, or Facebook back in the day, or whatever "back in the day". Instagram 2014 was a lot different. That statement draws from the fact that things seemed so much easier back then, right? It's time to start thinking about how to capitalize on 2018 because in 4 years from now you're going to be thinking back to this year and how things on x, y, or z were so much easier.

Things are getting more and more harder, thats whats getting up. Ofcourse in 2014 things were easy, I remember back in 2010 I used to make money with sharecash (nothing to do with IG) but back than it was also easy as hell. Try sharecash today lol.

Things however have changed, with costs sinking for computer power and storage not being a limiting factor, detecting fake content or pushed content has become easy, specially for large companys like facebook (who owns IG). Thats why today your strategy of 2014 does not work anymore. Also people are not as stupid as they were (in general, not only with IG), chances that people will today fall for the easy black hat methods of the old days are gone. You need today to get the visitors/users attracted to you and stay under the bot-detection radar of companys lik facebook. And thats why making money today has becomer "harder", compared to the old days.

I knew a dude who started with internet marketing in 2005, making money back then over the internet was the easiest thing possible (according to him), no need for any fancy method or some steve jobs type of marketing strategy to get leads.

I like this. 4 years ago it may have been easy but most people didn't realize it (aka why it was easy).

It can be hard to judge what will pay of now without hindsight, but I think everyone should make a few bold guesses in their lifetimes.
