The "College Tour" Method

This is PURE blackhat.

So I was going to pickup a order of chinese food when all of a sudden I was stopped by this kid talking about a college tour donation.

The "college" part makes it seem like you are donating for some good when I really think it was just for him.

He had a clipboard with information on the colleges that they were visiting. It looked really legit. The 2nd page were signatures of people who donated. It showed like $5 and $2 donations but those add up.

He said a fast line like "Hi we are taking donations to pay for our ride to --- college with an independent organization. Your donation is going toward food & gas for our trip. Would you like to brighten our future by making a donation today".

Then after I gave him the money and signed he said "thank you for making a difference".

This method is probably old. But it made me think about it again lol
I can guarantee you he made at least $100 that day.

But if you plan on doing it. Remember karma will bite HARD.

Like you said... Karma bites hard but if you give him a dollar then you have got some good karma. It all works out in the long run. That is why I always donate even a quarter or so to those folks outside of Walmart during Christmas.

I have my children do a number of things similar. My son continuously raises money for science camp and my daughter takes girl scout cookie orders using a girl scout outfit we found at Goodwill (and collects the money upfront). Let's just say, some people go the season without their cookies.
