Prologue:
IW and RD is CEOs of M Mallonline, they run online business as camera seller on Amazon UK, they have 100% positive feedbacks and reviews.
M Mallonline selling mid level cameras from 2016. They have pretty legit base. They actually registered as legit company in UK it's not made up!
So how this is a scam?
Modus Operandi:
1. Appoint Local as Head of Sales
https://ibb.co/fngrD8
In April 2017 *AN* hired as Head of Sales. I don't know the correlation of this but my suspicion is that they will make her as scapegoat or she's the real mastermind.
2. Create fake reviews
https://ibb.co/dLuE0o
In May-June 2017 period they have 55 5-stars reviews which I suspected as fake reviews. since they generated only 30 feedbacks in November 2016 -April 2017.
3. Drop the $PRICE$
https://ibb.co/dCQtt8
Late May, they start selling some mid level cameras with price around 490, but it's still down below their competitors which is 550. With this hard to refuse bargain, with their superb review it's hard to think that this's a scam. Plus it's on Amazon, it must be safe r8 m8?
4. People buying their cameras
Around 150 people bought this, counted by the number of bad reviews given.
5. Telling that item is broken and give them Amazon Giftcard
https://ibb.co/fCPmD8
They mail them personally say that item is broken and they will send a new one plus giving them 50 pounds Amazon Giftcard. But there's no actual shipment! It's a fake update.
https://ibb.co/kNMzY8
Since buyers got 50 pounds of free giftcard, buyers might think this is the best customer service ever. But their intention is just to keep buyers from the reality that they want to buying time.
6. Fake shipping to Legit shipping
Since the seller didn't give buyers tracking number, buyers can't track it's location. They will inform buyers that the courier can't send to buyers place so they will redeliver the item with another delivery service. They will promise to send new camera and another 50 pounds giftcard in the mail PLUS another 50 if buyers give positive feedback.
7. Put slightly wrong name and address
When the package arrive, buyers will notice the mail address and name is slightly wrong, it's because they intentionally change it to make delivery harder.
7. Surprise, the item received isn't camera but foldable beauty box, LOL
Buyers don't even get the 50 pounds promised, Speechless . . . .
8. Runaway
https://ibb.co/f8mzY8
Since buyers already know they got duped, M Mallonline runaway with trails of bad reviews
How they got the money? Amazon pay sellers 14 days after transaction is complete meaning they need to stall buyers as long as possible, so they can cash out the money. So they did it by
1. Faking info that the items is broken
2. Blaming courier for poor delivery but actually not shipping the item
3. Changing to legit delivery service
4. Intentionally slightly change the Name and the Address, so it couldn't get easily delivered
One of my acquaintance actually is the victim but the email pics is screenshot from tamago2474 youtube channel with title The Bargain Hunt.
But do they really get the money and run away with this?
I don't know, if you know please post a reply. I really appreciate if you do.
How about the victims?
They got their money back.
That's the story of M Mall Online Scam, I hope you learn something from this thread.
