I am curious how much a freelancer would charge to get me on the first page of google. Please PM me your bid..

A lot of it depends on your site. If you have a new, non optimised site it's obviously going to be more difficult and thus cost more.

i think nobody can promise getting you on first page + its preety expensive since such job needs everyday actions for some period of time.
what i would suggest is making your own plan and thinking of $ u can spend. plan im should consist of [everythign with anchors of course]:
- making articles
- social bites
- social bookmarking
- xrumer blasts
- writing on forums from the topic

Id say within 500$ it could be done [depends on how much you outsource etc]

If it's a local base, with an vancuever address, take advantage of working google's local business center. There are quite a few tricks with getting your biz ranked in the top ten pack, and for most local and even broad searches, it's the first 10 listings to appear, sometimes it can be only 1, which could be yours.

Which means, you could have a top listing without the normal wear and tear of an organic seo, backlinking etc. rise to the top.

There's still some work to be done, so don't think it's as easy as just registering your business.

Do some digging on google on ways to ahhemm...manipulate your rankings, ahemm.. I mean play by google's ever changing rules to get a top lising in GLBC.

Here's a tool that will also help get you going and see where your at. Just plug your biz listing into this and see where you stand, and periodically check it to guage the results of your efforts.
