I am working with many instagram accounts, but once start with follow-unfollow to build profile i notice that likes and comments drop on posts even the account is getting new and have more and more followers.. i think engagement was better with less followers and before doing follow/unfollow. No any action blocks on profiles, so what could be the problem is this shadow ban or something? Do you have same experience or i am just tripping :)

Probably your targeting is wrong or your posts aren't good enough

Yes, as you progress with follow/unfollow strategy your engagement rate would drop as you will get lesser and lesser organic reach. there are mny threads which have exactly the same thing discussed.

yeah i suppose it does, because i noticed on multiple accounts.. it sucks, sooner or later even this will be absolutely useless to work

well in any case until you have super awesome account growth strategy or you already have big accounts or you're famous celebrity, brand, company, website or a person, you have to start with follow/unfollow method and gradually you'll lose engagement rate upto certain percentage.

what would happen if stop doing follow/unfollow for certain period of time.. would engagement restore?

no it won't. you need to work hard to restore engagement rate. keep engaging with your followers regularly so they will keep engaging with you.

See its simple logic, if you did follow/unfollow, the people following you haven't followed you for your content, they followed you back as you followed them. had they been following you organically, they would have followed since they were interested in your content, and hence they would like it frequently, and as frequently they like your content, sooner your content shows up on their feed everytime and leading to higher engagement. understand the psychology of users and you shall know how it works.

Example of the aforementioned threads on strats?

You referred to some strategies here. Which ones are still relevant and what threads are they listed at?

i wasn't actually talking about any strategy. I was talking about psychology.

Yes and No. If you're giving out likes as well you'll notice your engagement actually go up but keep in mind follow/unfollow is mostly people who don't know you. If you live an exciting fun life or have a fun themed account you can turn that follower into a so called fan. Once they become a fan then it's almost like an organic follower because they're obsessed with your account.

That's why content is so important too. If your account feels like a bot it will be treated a such, if it feels like an exciting human then engagement actually gets better with follow/unfollow.
