301 redirect risks?

Just got a domain with just 4 links,

da48, pa40
da78, pa60
da61, pa54
da89, pa67 (Event link)

All linked to homepage + relevant anchors (partial domain etc), link was a old sex-related event/conference.

DNS history is clean, only registered once.
Hosting history clean and archive.org has 2 years in, both same theme and layout.

Is it safe to link to my money page? Adult/relationship themed, both of it can be considered sexual education.

What are the risks of 301? I know you get all the link juice from the old link along with the anchors

Is there anything else I should look out for?

You can redirect it but it won't do much. Google goes by behavior now. Unless people are looking for that other domain somehow and click through to your page from it, the redirect won't do much.

I've been preparing for the niche for a while, since it's hard to get links in the adult niche I branded my site differently to get them. Didn't expect someone to just scrap expired domains and redirect them to rank lol. Which is why I looked into it the first place, this is sort of day 4 and I got used to scraping.

Am I better off making it as a pbn? keywords we are targeting are extremely low comp/low comp

Maybe that's why he's ranking for everything i guess?

If the keyword is low competition, then I wouldn't bother risking everything with 301 redirects. There's a good chance you can screw up your entire site.

Also, redirecting domain with 4 links is completely pointless. That won't do anything at all. If you want an actual redirect, you need niche relevant, clean and big domain with hundreds of referring domains, not 4.

No, 301 is a legit technique if you don't abuse it.

If you slowly build up a natural looking link profile using a PBN it's a much better strategy than 301 IMO, provided that you do not leave footprints and the PBN domains are clean.

I do not do 301 redirects, but there's tons of resources all over the place here. It's an obsolete technique for people who believe that they can get more bang for their buck than they are entitled to.

Thanks for the fast reply! Appreciated! Will search some more on the forum. I am seeing my competitor still doing a lot of 301's to his money site monthly and he's getting away with it . His site is an authority so maybe that's why .

I've used this technique - tried and tested, and so far there's no downside in doing these type of redirects, only when you vet the domains and make sure that no spam links are present.
You can easily see those link profiles that have been heavily spammed, thus, make sure you've vet the link profile being doing the 301 and you should be alright.

Thank you, have you seen any downside etc? I saw 1-2 authority sites doing this with expired domains relevant to their niche.

A 301 redirect means that the page has permanently moved to a new location. A302 redirect means that the move is only temporary. Search engines need to figure out whether to keep the old page, or replace it with the one found at the new location.

Go ahead and just 301 - if it's hq links from a hq expired domains, each addition of these expired domains with the 301 to your site, will help increase your SERP , inching you upwards.
If it doesn't push your site upwards, that just literally means that the backlinks of the expired domain isn't worth anything.
A good one that has hq links from news sites, would definitely push your site upwards the SERP guaranteed.
