What's all the hype about reddit?

I go on there to see what's so special but it's just like any regular site to me, people talking with each other, posting weird stuffs, only difference is the AMA, other than that it's so basic. your thoughts?

when you post a link and a post and someone reply to your post, your post and your link got copied to their user page. double your link presences. hence free backlinks.
i could be wrong tho..

Right. The site itself isn't super revolutionary but it gets a shit ton of traffic.

Use there traffic to your advantage. I get 90% of my impressions from reddit referrals, pumping out over $6k a month in ad clicks

Interesting i personally never actually managed to drive any substantial amount of traffic from reddit especially if my site is a marketing affiliate like amazon affiliates mods in most subreddits are very strict

The niche I'm in welcomes outside sites posts, and is very targeted

This. I see a LOT of trolls on that site, like one user was asking about a sensitive issue and every one was just mocking him, however there is some good threads there

It's simple and that's why people love it. Because of it's democracy voting system only the good stuff gets seen. It is an amazing site. Been lurking it for 7 years until I finally tried to use it for internet marketing. It worked big time!

That's the goal. In practice, it's still only the best "marketed" posts meeting a threshold of relevancy that get on top.
