I'm sorting out influencers for my clients. Almost all the Influencer profiles i have checked have tags/mention in their comment. (70 to 90 percent tags/mention in comments)

How do you check real Engagement in Comments?

Yes, usually when other people tag someone is a real comment. If one person is tagging all then it's spam. If they have like TON of comments, more than 1,000, almost 100% they are real. The tricky part is when they have 50 or 100.

Tagging almost always is real and good, that means that they make shareable content.

You have to look for comments like:
- Amazing
- Nice post
- Love your account
- Love the photo
- (simple emojii)

If you see lots of this kind they are not real. And if you see always the same accounts commenting then probably it's a engagement group and that doesn't have to be bad, they try to get their content viral, you just have to make sure that they achieve that and that they do it as well when they promote you.

I've read somewhere that you can examine their engagement rate (e.g. median engagement rate in 2017 was 2.7 percent, so anything above this number is pretty nice); then you can take a look if their community is active and if their follower growth is steady. No doubt, it's good to check what they're actually promoting.
