Hey guys, I'm about to try Google shopping for my ecommerce stores. Previously I used the text ads and they worked fine. What are your views on shopping ads. Any better?

Depends, but if you have lots of competition showing you should add those in as well. Usually, CPC is lower than search and just another option to take up as much real estate as possible (besides using all ad extensions etc.)
For an e-commerce client, it far outperforms search, as the intent is even better.

They have the highest conversion rate of any PPC I've run for e-commerce, but it is finicky and will need a lot of attention to get it to the point of grabbing you much volume (if you are in a competitive product niche).

It's mainly complimentary from my experience, although for one ecom client could really turn off (suggested) all other search campaigns as the CR is so much better on there. Make sure you have good product info (so your feed is good as well). Def a must have for ecom in my opinion.

Shopping ads is the best strategy or advertising method for ecommerce businesses. CTR, CPC, Conversion rates are very high in Shopping campaign when compared to search campaign as you can directly display the image of your product, price & availability. You can also go with dynamic marketing which is more advanced feature in shopping ads.

theRevolt is correct. In my experience Google Shopping traditionally yields incremental CTR. In most cases i worked with, at least 2 - 3% above search.
