It means your site sucks, probably looks like a late 90s site, crazy fonts, stupid content, flashing distractive gif banners or too many popups.

or he has an amazing content that fully satisfies the user and it doesn't require any additional pageview.
Why would I go to another page on website if I for example looked for "things to know before getting a loan from the bank" and it has 5k word long content that explains everything I need to know?
I would rather worry about average time on site than bounce rate.

Bounce rate over 20% is always bad. I think you getting some irrelevant traffic as per your page. Check the pages carefully, edit them immediately.

Also, Please check in details on analytics which pages getting high bounce rate and try to work on those pages content for reducing bounce rate.
You can add events(do notn use non interaction event) in GA and that could help your bounce rate as it will measure user action such as download, button clicks etc.

No trick and regardless of what you think Google takes into account or not, video's can improve the user experience and provide helpful information. User engagement is more important to making sales, so whatever you users like, give them more!

I think 80% bounce rate is a little too high to the high-end. It should be 10-20% at most or lesser if possible.
If 80%, that means that the visitors are coming into your site, and left without doing any other thing else.
You can try reduce the bounce rate by installing additional plugins like related posts plugin, or a tab-closing feature that disallow the visitor to immediately leave - by offering a last minute offer or showing other related articles.
Anything to make them stick longer to your site and browse another page.
