If it is HTTP 4xx - problem on your side. 5xx - on the Instagram side.
On Sundays Instagram servers work at full capacity. Some strange behavior may be seen.

my error message is a little different: "the username you entered does not appear to belong to an account.."
both on FL and on my phone! not only deos the account still exist, i can login from a browser!

this is driving me crazy.
