Why can't I edit my own posts?

Hey guys,

I just made a post with an image and the image code got very wrong, I wanted to edit the post but there is no such option for me, why?

even 5 minutes didn't pass, but still, I can't edit it.

Thanks a lot, I also find it strange, because on other posts I have the "edit" option first 15-20 mins.

Yes, it's a good point.

There's a fine line to be drawn here. If the edit time limit's too short, then we end up with double posts or bumps where there shouldn't need to be. However, it does get abused when there's too much edit time. People post inflammatory posts, someone responds in like, then the first person deletes their post or changes it entirely, so it looks like they've been needlessly attacked.

You'd be surprised how often it happens (and how many people will flatly deny they've changed anything because they don't know we can see the thread history ).

So I've extended the edit time limit to 30 minutes now, across the board. We'll see how it goes - if there's any problems we'll readjust as necessary.

I tried to edit the post right after I made it, I tried refreshing, opening in a new browser, opening just the post link separately, there was NO edit button whatsoever, this all happened under 5 minutes.

I guess there was some kind of a bug.
