Yo,

No flashy graphics for this one. This journey is about getting back on my feet and building out a network of sites that generate money passively. For those unfamiliar, I had a journey last year. I built an azon affiliate site making north of $500 a month (image below). But then it got hit with a google animal and lost it all. I've learned my lesson from the Google slap, and I'm back to build an empire the right way.

Note: I'm focused on the long-term here. So no "loophole" SEO tactics. no PBNs. Whitehat, 99% on-site SEO. eventually, I'll work on the off-site, but the goal, for now, is low-hanging-fruit keywords. This journey doesn't have an end date and will likely take a long time (dozens of months). Slow, consistent growth is the goal. here


Initial Goal:
$100 consistently every day. But I will disperse the income throughout a number of sites and not keep all my "eggs in one basket".


Why:
Pay off my student loans. And to become a digital nomad within the next few years.

Tentative Gameplan:
Write 1X article every day for 1st website. Once it makes $5 a day, hire a writer to handle the growth of this website while I start another. The goal is $20/day per site.

I've created this journey for accountability reasons and to give back to those who are starting out and have questions.

Yes I've already done KW research. plus i have data from my old site that got slapped - so i know what to target. I have a huge list of longtail kw. And the keywords will be buyer-intent focused. best/cheap/top 10/ affordable/, product reviews, and a few other types.

What were you doing that got your last site slapped down?

thin content. essentially, imho i wasnt giving enough "value" to the end user. so i spent a few months revamping my strategy to provide more value than my competitors and stand out a bit from the crowd.

Update #1
Note: these steps were done over the past 2 weeks, but figured i'd outline my steps for those following. This is my normal process for starting a website.

1. Boring Foundational work:
   1. Setup site and optimize it (speed & onsite seo). Also lockdown site & heavily modify the theme.
   2. Setup caching/cdn etc.
   3. Used GTMetrix & Pingdom to validate setup:
      
      
      
      
      
2. Drip content onto the site
   1. I had ordered a few articles to be added to the site. added them to the website and optimized them.
      
      
3. Setup off-site Stuff
   1. Analytics, Webmaster tools, keyword tracking etc. etc.

The topic of setting up a website has been brutally explained numerous times throughout this forum, so no sense beating a dead horse.

Update #2:
Its been about 2 weeks since i've added the initial batch of articles. These articles have been indexed and continue to improve in rankings. Additionally, i've been adding content (albeit not daily ).

Money is Starting To Trickle In

Not a ton of money, but its a good start. I'm happy with the first $20. Everything is going as planned.

Note: I really want to focus on consistent hustle every day within this journey. I don't mean putting in stupid hours every day (and getting burned out). Rather, im just setting the goal to move one baby-step forward per day at a minimum.

Great question - No its not the same site as the one that took the hit. It's a different domain, loosely targetting similar keywords.

Only on-page this far?
Im assuming expired domains?

Update #3:

Nothing really to report besides me slowly adding content to the site. Looks like sales are slowly starting to come in. I've got a couple dozen posts setup and they're starting to get indexed and move up in rankings. most days are quite low (dollar or two), but i was fortunate enough to get a fluke $1k sale so it boosted commissions.

Tbh, i've been slacking with writing posts and ended up outsourcing about 10 long posts to writers to keep me on track with my goal.


Thoughts on Gauging Progress:
I have done some thinking about how i want to gauge my progress. Initially, i said i wanted to have $5 a day before starting a new site but i feel like that metric has too many variables to it and wont really be a good metric to gauge my progress. So instead, I'll just be focusing on getting my site to have 60-75 posts before starting a new site and hiring a writer for that old site.


Thoughts on my quick progress:
simply put, if you choose the right keywords, you can see quick success. focus on keywords, not SEO Tactics.
