As previous posters have said go for namecheap / namesilo, but stay away from godaddy. Their customer service is terrible!
Also look for coupon codes at retailmenot or similar websites if you want to get cheaper domains.

Sometimes you can get a domain cheap for the first year and after that you have to pay full price. It is important to have in mind that often cheap comes with less support etc. This is especially important if you want hosting as well. It is usually better to pay a bit more and you know that you will get good support as well when needed. Better to build a long-term relationship with a provider.

namecheap isn't cheap atall. The renewal is becoming costlier day by day. I had to transfer a couple of my domains to another registrar recently, because of the high renewal fees.

GoDaddy are ridiculously EXPENSIVE. I am not sure why anyone would ever consider them as first choice. Sure, you get ONE .com for 0.99. Thats it. Hardly worth it. Right now they ask 9.99 Euro just for privacy. I am registering .com for $6.99 with privacy included at Dynadot. Go figure..

namesilo works just perfect and their whois protection is good too... in every other registrar i have to pay for it on monthly basis... but here its totally free.
