Hi all,

I have a french amazon affiliate website in the home niche and am currently ranking top 3 for "best XXX" with around 800 searches / mo.

The problem is, of all the affiliate clicks, my conversion rate is a horrible 0.5% at best.

My content is written by a native person, really thorough and the website has a look that is far from the spammy classic affiliate sites my competition has.

Yet, I hardly make 1 sale each month (apart from random amazon orders for which I get the commission with my cookie...)

Any suggestions or action plans to improve ?

Thanks a lot

So the price starts at 80€, average is 160€ and goes all the way to 400€. I promote 3 products :

- "Best" product which costs 230€
- "Most affordable" around 70€
- A third product at around 245€

I get most of the clicks on the first one.

Sometimes if Amazon are ranking in the top 10, people will go direct if they know they want to buy that exact product.
Just keep adding new content, and in time things should improve.

The top 10 is only niche sites.

I’m already ranking very good, what will exactly change with new content ? Do you mean I should update my “best of” page ?

You have to keep in mind that Amazon is popular only in USA. People in other country prefer local brand over Amazon. Like in India, people prefer Flipkart instead of Amazon India

I’m also in France and personally buy everything from Amazon :D but i will look it up

As others have stated above. USA should be your market you target. That's where the $ is to be made. I assume you are using comparison charts, CTA buttons, in text links etc.?

I like to use the 40% click to Amazon metric for calculating potential revenue etc. what's your % of people going from your article to Amazon? Are you linking them to the right product? Is the product available? What's your bounce rate like?

Here are a few articles which talk about increasing conversion that you should find helpful:

Got arouns the same click rate and everything is fine but nobody’s buyin.
Maybe I should promote cheaper models as the french are not big spenders...

Your blog should be targeted towards US as that's were the traffic is. Best X articles should convert regardless of price. The higher the price the lower the conversion possibly but you should find people still buying other products.

Strange why conversion rate is low. Perhaps you need to select different products to promote and see if they convert better. The low conversion means youre doing your job but the Amazon page is not. Make sure you use high quality product images, describe it and the pros and cons etc to help make up your buyers mind.

Keep building content though. Content is king. The more you have the better you rank and the more traffic you get which means more money.
