I do something different to the footprints mentioned above. I won't state which ones I use, as that's giving a blueprint. All I'll say is this: You also want to be contacting websites who perhaps don't even know what a guest post is!
I'd much prefer my links to appear on a website who isn't publically open to guest posts, than those who are. And I certainly make it clear that I won't have any author bio - it's just a link to one of my articles with is informative, just as when people link to Wikipedia.
I'll perhaps write my own guide, once I've perfected my plan. At the moment, I've been sending out around 1000 each week and absolutely snowed under with replies from people interested. Currently getting 1 guest post published per day and I outsource my writing. But the aim is to get 10+ 'guest posts' added daily.
Scrapebox is your friend.
