The website is up and running and the content is live. But not indexed yet though.

For those of you interested in the financials, here’s a breakdown of the cost:

Domain: $10
Content: $255
Template: $40
AAWP Plugin: $40
Images: $10

That’s a total of $355 for the complete set up. That’s cheaper than most ready-built sites on the marketplace.

It’s time to start link building now. I made good experiences with web 2.0s but unfortunately, my old provider increased his price drastically and the ones I tried so far were not that good. So, instead of looking for a new provider on BHW I hired my own guy at Upwork.

He’ll create three web 2.0s for each of the 5 posts, following my guidelines which are somewhat similar to this offer here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/p...ten-content-different-ips-off-inside.1010024/

I’ll let you know, once he’s done or some of the pages get indexed.

The project seems to have trouble to get off the ground. Google has indexed all the pages but none of them shows up in the SERP.

This journey shouldn’t just be about the success but also about the struggles I’m facing, so here’s my research and action plan:

1. Google seems to penalize websites that only focus on affiliate content / have too many affiliate links.
- Add one outgoing authority link to each article
- Add 2 informational articles (questions posts) without any affiliate links

2. I found some unreadable Asian links in my backlink profile. No idea how they got there.
- Research about disavow tool and try to get rid of them

3. Poor overall backlink diversity (mostly web 2.0s)
- I already asked @stephan about his press release service, waiting for his reply.

I’ll let you know once I’m done all the steps listed above.

Also, I’m very slowly building web 2.0 and pointing them to the articles. Unfortunately, they are hard to get indexed. I tried to point tier 2 links to some them and submit them to Google Submit URL and LinkCentaur (which lets you index 20 links per day for free) – without success. If anyone has any suggestions how to go about this, let me know.

Time for another update. As this post got a bit longer than expected, here's a short summary: Still no real progress, but I'm working on it. None of the keywords shows up in the top 100 results.

1. Google seems to penalize websites that only focus on affiliate content / have too many affiliate links.

I added the outgoing links and one more informational article so far that is already indexed. Working on the second right now.

This seems to work as the links don't show up anymore on SemRush. I just updated the file and added another spammy domain.

As I still didn’t get a reply from Stephan I turned to another service provider: @PauloPaul immediately answered all my questions and was a great help. His sample report looked excellent. But unfortunately, according to him the niche I’m in is not very suitable for a press release and I'm to look at other options. Maybe the backlink package that @IamKing offers might be worth a try (at least according to his reviews).

I got some progress here at least. Most of the web 2.0s are indexed by now with the help of elitelinkindexer.com (which was mentioned here) not sure though if forced indexing is a good thing. Further more I ordered some Tier 2 links from @eatingMemory which helped to increase their stats.

The only thing that I'm worried about now is that the links from the web 2.0 don't show up in the backlink profile of the main site (using Ahrefs or SemRush). But I guess I'll have to be a bit more patient.

Another issue that I was struggling with the past days is that Google omitted some of my pages because they are too similar (if I searched for inurl:mainsite). I did a bit of research and found this article helpful: https://cognitiveseo.com/blog/17778/google-omitted-results/

I changed most of the titles and meta descriptions and it starts to get better. Still have to optimize it a bit though.

Just a short closing notice: Unfortunatley this project has not been working out as intended. Today, two months later I'm still not ranking for any keyword and I'll take the site offline / put it up for sale soon.

Here's what I've learnt:

• the next time I buy an expired domain for a project, I'll do the due dilligence work more seriously
• relying on one source of traffic was maybe no the best idea

I already have a few ideas for new projects, once I decide what I want to proceed with, I'll let you know in a fresh thread.

Btw, if the problem is the expired domain and the keyword are so easy to rank, why don't you start a branded new domain and drop the expired one?
