Does it really matter if OP is showing off or not?

Let me tell you about situation in India . There are not much complex rules related to permit. Most of the people make houses without any permit. There are houses as big as 5000 sq ft in my neigbourhood and most are new. Many of the houses had been built after we shifted here and none took more than an year. If you have sufficient funds, you can get it done sooner. However, here buying land in good locality is quite costly. Most of the people with large houses here are retired people who invested their retirement funds in this.

But OP can have much better amenities than Bill Gates. OP might even buy bill gates' mansion and be rid of all the troubles associated with construction. Or he can even demolish Bill's mansion after buying it for triple the asking price, just to show off....,

Not even joking, someone just did that down here in Houston. My wife's boss' neighbor had their mansion up for 1.7 million, on the water. Cash purchase, 30 days later, LEVELED THE HOUSE!

. Being mad and having some fun are two different things! No one is degrading OP's desire to create a mansion for himself and his family. It's in the lounge though, and some make fun without being disgusting! In lounge, one should expect some fun in a thread. There are many who are having that kind of fun with OP's desire, but some don't 'see' those posts -- for obvious reasons, I guess!

SHOW OFF wasn't meant in any degrading form. Having Bill Gates house in the post also wasn't meant to insult OP's capabilities...I mean well for him all the time, if I must say it!

Seriously, nothing personal...yes, people meet all types of people in life. Get along or leave alone...
